No offense, but people like you who just piss away money like it grows on trees really annoy me. You have no idea what the real world is like.
So true man....he should do something logical with the money....so true

Forget the SR-2, it's overkill and will kill most of your budget.

Mobo - Rampage III Extreme
CPU - 980x
Video Cards - 2 GTX 580's, 1 GTX 570
Case - Corsair 800D
RAM - 8GB G.Skill or Patriot 2000mhz
Hard Drives - Crucial RealSSD 256gb, 2TB WD Black
Fans - 6x Gentle Typhoon's
Air Cooler - Scythe Mugen/Dark Knight
PSU - Corsair 1000W or Silverstone 1500W
Fan Controller - Kaze Ace
Monitor - Dell U3011

With the rest, buy a nice mechanical keyboard, a blue ray disk drive, a top of the line mouse and pair of headphones.
Ha? People answered this guy fully about 10 pages ago... Read through the thread before you post...

And stop suggesting crap like that since he already has a nice computer.

I hope your joking.

He does not need an entirely new build, he's new to computers, and the stuff he does not require a computer of that caliber, all he's doing is coding and some gaming. And a 980x is extremely inefficient for gaming. All he needs is to add another 6970 for crossfire and new PSU. His proccesor, RAM, mobo, etc. is all fine.

And the # 1 thing you should've learned during all that? Life's not fair. Some people have money to burn, some don't even have enough to cover basic living expenses. It's his money and he can do with it what he pleases.

dear god the possibilities...

I dunno if this might help but, you could always try getting a decent computer, then spending the rest on strippers to celebrate. think: van wilder

Just answering his question. The guy has money and wants to spend it, might as well go for a 980x. I agree it is overkill for gaming, I sold mine a month ago because of that.

Realistically, I think he should spend the money on a topless math tutor.

I know it's not fair. I'm just saying he should appreciate what he has and put it to better use instead of pissing it all away on stuff he doesn't need.

Now we are making progress
(And at the guy that thinks a GPU has it any harder scaling up to a 1920x1080 55" vs a 19" 1920x1080 screen, you are wrong.)
What drivers are you running?
