A Radeon HD 6850 should suffice, although I'm not sure of your budget. Balances Price and perfmance. If that's too expensice, I'd go the nVidia route: GTX 460.

Here's a guru3d review of the 6850:

Get a GTX460 1GB.
It's cheap nowadays and will play most games on high to max settings at 1920x1080, except only a few games such as Metro 2033.
Not enough mana!

Define break the bank? Because if your wanting high res (1080 or higher) your options are going to vary. Right off the bat I would suggest a 570.

GIGABYTE's 560SO had just published, about $270 in average, and core clock directly tweaked up to 1G.
it's a really nice and amazing card indeed.

agreed the gigabyte GTX560 SOC card competes with the GTX570, but instead of costing $350 like the 570, its only $279

i would definately look at one of the GTX560 variants.

there are also the 6850, 6870 and 6950 1gb (not the 2gb, its considerably more expensive)

Either a Nvidia GTX 460 1 GB, GTX 560 or a AMD HD 6950. You would not go wrong with either of these.

The 460 GTX 1 GB is a good choice for a quite video card that overclocks well at an affordable price. Just make sure you dont get the SE version because it has two shader cores locked vs. the normal version which only has one shader core locked.

460 GTX 1 GB> 460 GTX 768 > 460 GTX SE 1GB.
