Reformat Linux and windows on laptop drive

Thread Starter
I have an old Sony Viao 600mhz and 192mb memory. The notebook has corrupted Windows 2000 on it and Mandriva installed and I want to completely wipe the entire drive and do a fresh install of Zorin Lite which is an Ubuntu variant.
What would be the best way to go about wiping the drive of both file types and doing a fresh installl with no windows files on the drive therefore allowing the whole use of the drive for Zorin Lite install.
Also I assume I can just use the Zorin Linux install to reformat the entire drive. I have yet to do that as of now.

By the way, I don't want to take apart the notebook just yet to access the drive and do an old fashioned wipe.
