Hi every1
i have successfully unlocked the 4th core on my CPU but i cannot stabilize it with prime95. Within a few minutes after i start the stress test i get ILLEGAL SUMOUT on one of my third core. I have this motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128435

i tried raising my CPU voltage all the way up to 1.45 but still no luck.

i need some suggestions on what else i can do. thanks in advance

Its a hardware failure, the reason your 4th core was locked was that it was no good, sorry to disappointed :-\\

Yea if the forth core was any good it would have gotten stable at 1.45v you can maybe just try 1.5v but still i doubt that the 4th is working...just go for a straight overclock now.

You should be able to just up ur multiplier on stock volts to get 3.2. On my setup I hit 3.3 on stock volts but i had to go all the way up to 1.42 to be stable at 3.8 and went as far as 1.51 to hit 4.0

if you raise the voltage to 1.5 and its not stable, its definately a bad core, and was disabled for that reason

what heatsink do you have on the cpu?
it can clock higher with 3 cores than with 4, not a complete loss

if your 720 is a black edition, just overclock with the multiplier, leave the fsb at 200 and ht at 2000

In this instance you could try Advanced Clock Calibration, by increasing this on the bad core and the good ones, I was able to turn what was a unstable core to a stable core and even overclock it to 3.7 GHz.

I ended up having to use these settings:

Core:0...+4
Core:1...+4
Core:2...+6
Core:3...+4
