New Build Won't Post After 2 Days

Thread Starter
Hi, the build in my sig was put together this weekend. Before I did any modification or OC'ing I wanted to get it up and stable. I installed windows, loaded new drivers, and updated everything I needed to. Everything seemed fine. All my drives showed up, all my ram showed up, and my vid card showed up properly. I ran this computer for two days with no sign of a problem. I shut it down normally last night, and today I turned it on and it will not post. I got nothin' here. Everything spins up, everything sounds and looks fine. The only thing I notice different is that the HDD light isn't flashing. I probably won't have time to work on it tonight, but any suggestions as to what I should change/ test/ fix would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance from an unhappy n00b.

Try running it as a test bench until you can come across what part could be faulty.

i'd suggest trying to reset cmos/pull battery if that's an option. before you do, you could also pull out a component such as ram and see what happens (though gigabyte's don't usually have post beeps i don't think). did you make sure to use standoffs when you put your board in? nothing touching where the IO bracket is on the back causing a short? disconnect your usb stuff as well and see. you can also of course power down the system and try unplugging it from power afterwards and/or switch psu off. do this AFTER you've shut everything down. GL!

Victory. Pulled the whole thing apart to check for anything that could cause a short. (yes, I had standoffs in, I prefer not to be part of the "wonder if my case conducts electricity" club). Anyway, when I put the thing back together and reset the cmos, it posted like a charm. Thanks for the help. +rep for you two for the advice while i panicked.

Yeah, I had a tiny heart attack when it wasn't working. Now that it's up again, it's on to the next project. Just bought sleeving from mdpc today and I have 2 more projects lined up after that. This PC building stuff is like crack...but more expensive. Thanks again for the advice.

Nice! Sleeved cables look sick when they're done right. Pcs are a much better hobby than crack though in pretty much all respects LOL
