Advice required on OC my 1090T and RAM

Thread Starter
OK, I know there are a heap of threads all over the net regarding this but I (an OCing Nub) find it all a tad confusing.

What I want to do is simply have my 1090T running at 3.6 24/7 and my 1600mhz ram run at 1600mhz not 1333mhz.

MB is an ASUS M488TD-M EVO USB3

Ram is Corsair CMX4GX3M2A1600C8 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3

Any help would be appreciated.

Bump up your multiplier and you should be able to hit 3.6ghz without issue. should be able to do it without changing your voltage, if you have to change your voltage it will be only a small amount.

Thanks.

What do I do about my RAM? Is it as easy as setting it to 1600 in bios?

And what do I do with the C n Q option?

When dealing with just the multi it doesn't effect the clocks of anything but the CPU.

you can leave cool and quiet on if you would like, it doens't matter either way, i know when you are having stability issues it doesn't help the matter. but with a 3.6ghz overclock it won't matter, that is an easy overclock.

Keep it at stock.
Never OC a Phenom II x6 on an unheatsinked 4+1 power phase. That is just an inexcusable excuse for danger and flame death right there.
Underclock it actually, since you're running a tower cooler and the mosfets don't get any cooling whatsoever. Keep it that way until you can find some Enzotech MOS-C1 or something.

Don't make me bring out the horror stories.

Counting that last thread that's gotta be 25-35 examples right there. Maybe even 40.

The M4A88T-M EVO is a bit on the safer side, you should be okay for moderate (moderate only, don't pass ~1.475V, don't collect $200) overclocks on the x6 IF you install mosfet cooling (i.e. Enzotech MOS-C1), but be wary.

Im glad i have an overclocking board.

DFI lanparty for the win. My chipset and mosfets barely get warm to the touch.

Do you tell everyone their motherboard could potentially blow up because they overclocked their CPU's?

out of curiosity, will my CPU cause my mobo to go kaboom?

Fire, lots of fire.

Boards with 4+1 phase power have been known to burst into flames when trying to OC X6's.
