please help me setup my Wireless Home Network!!

Thread Starter
i'm completely noob to networking but i just bought a Linksys E2000 and successfully flashed DD-WRT but no idea how to configure it

so here's how my current setup is... i have SBC DSL

im using a US Robotics ADSL 4-Port Router , i think this is a modem/router all-in-one (correct me if i'm wrong).. i have my phone line plugged into this router then my computer plugged into one of the 4 ports, that's it

now where can i add my DD-WRT E2000 in this chain? do i need to buy ADSL modem separately can i just use the US Robotics one? because when i connect the US robotics router into my E2000 , then computer into E2000, it doesn't work at all, or maybe i'm just not putting in the right settings in DD-WRT?

the reason i want to add the E2000 is so i can use my PS3 and laptop wirelessly

thanks +rep for any helpful responses

Put in the disk that came with the e2000 BEFORE you do anything. Follow the prompts, you will see where it detects the settings for your current isp. Then take a cable from port 1 on your modem to the internet port on the Linksys, Then port-1 on the Linksys to your computer. Continue on the provided disk and it should automatically install the settings onto the Linksys router with options for setting up your security in the process.

Right now, open a command prompt and do ipconfig /all

Assign your wireless router an IP within your subnet but outside of the DHCP range. Example, if the default gateway you see from ipconfig /all is 192.168.1.1, give your wireless router 192.168.1.2. Make sure the assignable range for hosts is something like 192.168.1.10-50. Disable DHCP on the wireless router and connect the DSL modem/router to it by LAN port. Set up your wifi settings to your liking, using WPA2 with at least a 15 character passphrase.

Should be good to go.
