Can this CPU reach 4Ghz?

Thread Starter
Is it possible to overclock an Athlon II X4 630 to 4.0Ghz or atleast 3.5Ghz stable? I have it at 3.5Ghz, not stable yet, but working on it.

At 3.5Ghz it crashed on prime95 after about 20 minutes.
CPU voltage: 1.4v
NB frequency: 2500Mhz
NB voltage: 1.25v
Never past 40C.

3.5 should be possible, but, good luck with 4.

Pump in those volts to get better results!
Just don't exceed 1.55 due to motherboard power phase and CPU air cooling.

you can get 3.5

I had mine all the way up to 3.75

I'll try to get as high as I can, but yea, I don't think I'll hit 4.

you should be able to get to atleast 3.9ghz but will take some work anything beyond that point will take massive amounts of vcore. I had my 940BE up to 4.1ghz but that was with water cooling and my ac pumping 14c air through the case and radiators. o yea and about 1.65vcore. just regular air keep it at 1.55ish and under. Have fun.

What should the NB frequency and voltage be? I'm pretty new to over clocking..

well to be honest your nb frequency is going to do more for you than your over all clock speed. your going to have to find a equal balance between the 2. With my chip I can't do anything over 2.2 on the NB which kinda sucks but make sure that when you oc that you also raise your nb and sb volts a little also. I can't say for exact numbers on those 2 but If you find your oc is not stable its a good starting point to give your sb a little bit of voltage.

What should I set HT Bus Speed to? Right now my OC is stable at 3.5. I tried to get to 3.64 and my system wouldn't boot.
