Suggested Drivers for GTX 460

Thread Starter
I'm running Windows Vista 32bit, while playing mainly Bad Company 2. I've tryed the drivers 266.58 and the leaked one before that, aswell as the last WHQL. I guess what I'm asking is if there are some sort of optimized drivers for this card or if possibly someone else uses drivers for this card and they work great. I'm getting around 30% avg GPU usage, the GPU and my CPU are overclocked and my RAM timing is adjusted. My last card was a 8800GT and I could play bc2 with a higher fps without any stuttering. Now I can't even play bc2 in dx9 without having an avg fps of 10, dx 11 seems to run alot better then dx10 aswell. I've tryed everything with all configs and now I think it has to be something with these drivers. I did clean installs with all of them. Any help would be great this GTX 460 is a much more powerful card then my 8800gt and I want it to perform so. Thanks

I'm using the 260.99 on all my cards atm and I haven't noticed any issues. I'm a little reluctant to upgrade too because of all the complaints I've been hearing.

I reported this so hopefully a mod can move this soon. Anyways, try rolling your drivers back to 260.99

OK I'm back and I brought results! Good ones TBH..
So to start I uninstalled the latest Drivers and replaced them with 260.99.
After installing I fired up BC2 for some benchmarking.

Here are the settings.

These are my overclock settings.

And here are a few in-game pictures with the FPS on the top left.

Notes: I noticed with these drivers after picking your spawn point, the time it takes to render all the graphics around you takes about 25 seconds now which IMO is not good the latest drivers took only around 10 seconds at MOST.

I'm getting few to no stuttering now, so anyone who was having issues with the GTX 460 should give these drivers a try and see how they work for you.

Also I got quite a few more points on the GPU test for 3D Mark Vantage

I'm not sure why this card has so many problems, when I originally purchased the card I thought it was a good buy because I read a review about it on the guru forums. Now I wish I either stuck with my 8800gt or purchased a 5770, that or hopefully a good driver comes out for this card sometime soon.

Until then I'll be playing BC2, Yes that's me asking how can I take screenshots in the pics if you wanna play you can add me if you want.

Ty for the help Klue22 +rep

Nice to see its playable now, I would guess though that BC2 is maxing your CPU. It's pretty heavy on CPUs and is one of the few games I know that supports (and recommends) quad cores.

this. cpu is causing a bottle neck. overclock that gtx 460, and if you dont see increse in frame rate, then you have found your bottle net.

put 32X aa for better results... you will miss with 5% the cpu bottleneck
