''COSMOS GTR'' Black Edition Mod 8 Rads - 6 Cores - 4 GPUs - Page 4

thanks for the pics, having some ideas now and might be using a T Rotary compression fitting while adding the triple rad at the back...

the lighting looks very descent and I aim for something similar with one red cathode and maybe one white, some radial beam LEDs around but i don't want to make it too fancy...

Will mount the triple to the back now, should compensate for the missing single and giving the option of adding the second 5970 ;-)

used the rad guards off the bitspower custom mesh guard and using just 3 fans for the moment in push without shrouds, the koolance bracket in the way i can mount it to the case is 90 degrees around so i have to use 4 small cable ties to stabilize them on top so it wont break off.
not the best solution but at least no drilling or dremling, the fittings will change too to 2 45 degree's.

sorry for the low res pictures off my iphone, i really need to get a better cam, it would look just more professional..

But can we mod the fans so that they fit? Cause I'll probably be using the RX360 on top with 25mm thick fans, and I don't want to go with a small rad and I want my expensions slots clear. I also don't want to have an external rad since I'll probably be moving it quite a lot..

Also, does the black paint you added in the case scratch easily?

Hi mate, to the paint: I used 2 layers of primer, 3 layers of black paint each with 3 days drying time at 30C, finished off with 1 layer of transparent black matte.
I would say that if you do the case spraying with sufficient drying time, it should be okay.
my paint for instance did not come off while i was inserting the dual rad and touching everything but I could see paint coming off if i have to take out a part at the drive cages for instance, think its not avoidable. Just use a magic marker like touching up the rads when chipped...

But hey, if you love to do it yourself go for it, if not, you live in Canada, I am sure you can powder coat your rig for a fraction of the cost i have spent (100USD of all paints, hardeners, primers).

here some pictures to show you if you have a thick rad like an XSPC with 60mm thickness, it would simply not fit a fan on top.

So, either you use a small form factor rad EK or Swiftech or you would mod the top somehow (but I guess that's not worth it).

With a triple rad on top, I could not have spare room for a drive, but for a controller like you see there in the pic, no problems.

hope this helps

Thanks for the infos! I looked and it seems the prices for powder coating is still around 75$.... I guess I'll be going with paint...

For the rad, it doesn't look that bad in the 3rd picture... I guess if I want to change the RAM I'd just have to remoce the fan?

Yes it would work obviously without the fan but that was not my intention so to loose on cooling performance of two pull fans,
I am aiming for 6 push/pull fans with 3 shrouds if possible. I am sure it will work out nicely for you, the XSPC is, as I read, excellent performing with low-speed fans and low-restriction..
cheers

I won't be using low speed fans! I'll be using Gentle Typhoon 2150

then push is the best with shrouds if you have but you can only do 1 push and 3 pull with this radiator thickness...

Or maybe I could put the fans ou top of the case and make them push air in the case, so they would act as intakes?

yes that works too if you have enough outtakes,

like i.e. what you do with the front; intake or outtake?
you have a rear fan; outtake i guess?
don't forget the side fan; intake most-likely
bottom fan, I don't use it but you could us it as outtake plus the front if you use it as a rad or not could be as out takes..so you would have rear out, top and side in, front and bottom out, that makes sense and you have triple fan full push power too ;-)
cheers
