Help! OC degrading or Motherboard problems?

Hi guys,

here are the symptoms: Whenever I boot, the system does not power/activate my USB-plugged Keyboard, Mouse nor does it give a signal (via DVI) to my screen. It just shows a black screen, until I reboot, upon which the BIOS apparently sends the signal that something went wrong with my overclock (probably because the system doesn't get to boot the OS?), which I need to confirm with F1, which brings me to the ASUS EFI.

There I can simply exit and discard all the changes I didn't make and boot into windows. Anyone a clue what this is about? The system runs stable, even benched, but this start-up behaviour was there from the start. BIOS is 1253 btw.

This morning I started the computer, did the whole reset thingie, went to get coffee and came back to be greeted by a BSOD (0x0123). Afterwards I had to repair Windows with the DVD to get it running again.

Anyone got an educated guess what could be going on here?

Thanks in advance

did you switch mobos without reformatting?

If it is BSOD'ing then it is not 100% stable. What did you use to test for stability? I recommend 20 passes of Linx, or run Prime95 for atleast 3+hours, and do aMemtest for the RAM. Does it overheat? What are your load temps?

No switch/swap of mobos - this is a completely new build.

I tested stability with a few hours of prime95 26.4, but mostly by long-term gaming. Had no problems so far. Did Linx 0.64 with 10.3 Linpack (got SP1), which caused me to switch from manual 1.27/1.28v vCore to AUTO settings, but never really benched with Linx again as I don't see any AVX-apps on the horizon, so Linx benching right now does not represent any load I could see in my day-to-day use.

Also the BSOD happened under practically zero load, when booting windows, not during load.

Load temps are moderate 65°C, nothing that should be troubling I think.

EDIT:

Ran a very basic Linx, default problem size, as I need to head out right now and don't have time to run and supervise a bench with my max memory, screenshotted during load, so you can see temps etc. Since switching from 1.28v manual vCore to AUTO the temps apparently went up from 65° to 70°, but I'd consider that still decent temps to run at under synthetic load.

No ideas? Maybe there is a better place to ask this? ASUS forums?
