Is console gaming really cheaper? - Page 4

I payed $30.00 for my first copy of BF2 when it first came out
I bought two copies of BF2 Deluxe (the one with all the exp. and booster packs)
last year on an Ebay for 10 apiece, did the same for BF2142
Built two rigs for my grandsons so we could play together total cost of both rigs was about $1200, now we can play together for the cost of high speed internet and no Xbox live,
Have we forgot about that little cost associated with multiplayer gaming on the Xbox

(edit)
I repaired my son inlaws RROD Xbox 360
My nephew has had a PS3 for maybe a year and it will no longer read Bluerays only regular DVD's

Can you have the joy of customizing your own console? Upgrade your console? Fine tune your console? Do multiple things at once with your console? I think not.

PC = Real Gamers.
Can you please shut up now? I am tired of your posts plastered on this forum, especially on threads that are on a completely different topic!

THREAD: Thoughts on which is cheaper, I think in the long run PC gaming is cheaper

YOU: PC GAMING ROCKS! CONSOLES SUCK ASS!!!!!!

ON TOPIC ANYWAY: I agree. In the long run PC Gaming is cheaper. I mean CoD MW2 for Xbox 360 is still sixty bucks!

If your buying games consistently I would think it would be about equal cost.

Any thoughts?
Think about it this way...

you own a computer and instead of buying a xbox 360 you buy a new Graphics card for your PC.

that way people can't complain about prices and things...

Yah I remember having to put my ps1 upside down to friggin play games. There really is no excuse for busted consoles, gotta hand it to nintendo, they build them to last.

Console = cheaper parts that fail quicker.

dont forget about folding, the PS3 PPD sucks lol.

i have a 360 and a gaming PC. the Pc cost ALOT more but the games are much cheaper. i had to have an I7 for work, might as well stick a video card in it (200 bucks) and game on it so it was actually CHEAPER for me to game on my PC.

Console gaming is cheaper, but PC gamers won't admit it. I will though, if you think of ways to save, its heck of a lot cheaper. PS3 = $300, GameFly = $15 a month, get 2 games at a time, keep how long and whenever. Even keep that Black Ops MP until the new CoD game comes out, save $60 on a single disc.

SO yes its cheaper. As PC games are reaching the 60$ mark now-a-days, there really is no comparison. $500 GFX card, compared to $300 all in one. Plus going Sandy Bridge is $500 required anyways, so yes. Still cheaper.

Now im sure people on OCN will knit pick at me and say how they bought all this and that for the price of 1 PS3 game. But sorry, were not counting STEAM sales here people. Thats pretty clear and cut, we don't need the sarcastic smartwannabe kids coming in here saying "NAH UHHH PC IS CHEAPER, LOOK AT STEAM, LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT DURING XMAS SALE"..

Yet... a sale is not all the time kids...
After looking at this maybe you are right! I mean you get the Xbox, 300 bucks right? you get a couple games, 200 worth yearly. So the first year you pay 500 bucks, and after that 200 yearly for new game titles.

PC gaming, 1000 bucks for a decent system, than about 150 for games (got to admit they are cheaper in most ways, even at Gamestop) and after that 150-200 bucks yearly for new game titles. Then of course you have to dish out 300 for a new CPU or GPU from time to time, or maybe your board broke, so bam every three years you have to get new hardware.....

No console gaming is not cheaper. Just like the price of consoles lowers over time, so do the costs of building a PC. Consoles didnt always sell for $200.

PC gaming can be more costly if people are going for the top of the line stuff.

People forget to include the price of the HD TV they bought when they consider console price.

I use gamefly for my PS3, and only pick up games that are less then $30. But if you are one of those guys that buys tons of new games at $60 a pop (or the morons who pay $100+ for COD boxes) it really adds up.

On the flip side, PC games can be had very cheap, especially when you factor in Steams sales etc.

Most games I prefer on PC, but sports and some of the PS3 exclusives (obviously) I like on the PS3.
