nope...and that probably sounds like a sacralidge, but 6 weeks and it runs like a dream...i credit it to the x58 sabertooth w/ a 950...its just too easy...and i take that back, i have loaded it to 100% before during WEI indexing test, and it peaked @ 80 on the CPU...now granted thats not sitting under load for hours...moreless...30-60 seconds...but its not terrible...the noctua does pretty well i believe

Rhenzinger, what are your ambient temps and voltages? at that clock, full load should be lower. I am at 4.3ghz with 1.28v and prime,IBT,and LinX only get me to 72C and I have the same D-14 I would like to help you lower your temps.

As for water cooling listen to these guys they really know their stuff I have been reading posts from them for months before I decided on parts and then posted what i wanted for additional advice and they were very good. They have alot of info to help you out

this. i upgraded from the d14 to the rs240 kit and saw 5c drop in load temps during stress test. i know that dont sound like a lot, but it helps. i eventually went and bought a rx 240 which gave me a coupld xtra degrees c, after the loops reaches its eventuall temp that is.

you may have problems mounting any radiators thicker than the rs series in that case. i have haf922 and the rs just bairly fit in my case up top with 2 fans in push. tried for push pull and had to put to fans out of the case on the top. upgraded to rx now everything is externally mounted except for the two pull fans.

edit: nvm, you have the haf 932. you can mount that bad boy up top internally with no problems.

Chiller + Fan = Air conditioner?

I'm glad it worked, but you should always test an OC, even if it's the only time you run with that much load.

Edit: 930 vs 950.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in the WC section!

See the above quote where I bolded. I know procs all take different voltages, but you seem to be pumping alot more Vcore for less OC...? What's the max on the i7s guys? I'm putting 1.42 through my C2Q, but I have the chip, nb/sb and mosfets underwater so I'm not concerned about higher temps, but it's worth watching more that just CPU temp as you add voltage like that.

I think you could lower your vcore from what i understand the 950's need more vcore than 930's but you should be able to get 1.32v with qpi around 1.35-1.41 as long as you give enough ioh ich v you can run 3800 uncore

@salt: You are very welcome man sending a pm for convo ( don't wanna hijack thread)

I have seen ppl with up to 1.5vcore on i7 ( i wouldn't try that without some serious cooling though) if the op can get his voltage under control, he could be running 70-75 under load ( i get 68C under prime ibt linx)

It's all greek to me, i7 OC'ing is a whole new ballgame, I guess I'm just behind the times... I'm more into the cooling stuff anyway

The first thing you should really do is stress test you CPU to make sure your OC is actually stable. This will also give you a good indication of what your temps are at full load.

Use Prime95 or LinX to load your CPU up to 100%. Use Realtemp to track the temperatures on your CPU. Realtemp will track min and max temperatures on each core, so it is nice to have.

If it can run 100% for several hours, then you are probably stable enough. Some people on here will tell you to run it that way for a 24 hour period, or similar. Chances are, if you are stable for a couple of hours, then you are good, but you never will really know for sure. An overnight test can be a good indicator. To be safe, you wont want to see your CPU get above 80C or so the entire time.

Chances are, if you are seeing 80C from a 30-60 second burst at 100%, then you are going to be too hot when you let your CPU run at 100% for hours.

Once you know that your OC is stable, then you can go from there.

As far as watercooling goes, you should see improvements over your air cooler. The better the air cooler though, the less you get from watercooling. In your case, with an overclocked i7 950, you probably are going to want to get a good quality, thick, 240 radiator. Something like the RX240 would probably do you good. Or, if you can fit it in your desired case, a 360 radiator would do you well too.

My i7 930 at 4.085GHz (1.25v) can run 100% load overnight and only reaches 68 degrees. And that was in the summer when the ambient temps were higher.
