best way to mount Gentle Typhoon to Rad?

Thread Starter
I'm trying to figure out the best way to mount a Gentle Typhoon to a radiator without dremeling or cutting the fan housing. As many of you know the Gentle Typhoon fans have a 'tunnel' design where the holes mount, making it impossible to stick a screw head in there (see red circle) without dremeling a notch to allow room.

What would be a better solution? I thought about a really long screw that goes from the top, any other ideas though?

A 30mm long screw is pretty much standard to go all the way through, just make sure its not going to touch the fins/tubes when you tighten it.

Longer screws came with my rads, so I just used those to attach my ap-14's. Works like a charm. They go all the way through the fan, so i'm assuming they are 30mm long.

one problem though.. how do you mount the top fan that also screws into a case top?

My setup is like this:

top cover
fan
radiator
fan

The screw that holds the top fan to the top cover is a different type of screw. Not sure how I would solve this problem without dremeling the fan?

here's what u should do...i imagine you're more of a visual learner, so go and see for yourself

take the long screw. stick it through the top cover >fan > then screw it to the rad ( be very careful not to puncture rad by over screwing/tightening it )

and come back and tell us how that goes.
you do NOT need the screw to fit and screw into the top cover, what u need the screw to do is to fit the RAD threads as that is what you're actually mounting.

I have a regular Lian Li top cover and the screws that hold the fan to the top
cover are a bit larger than the rad screws. I'm worried that the screws that hold the rad to the fan will go right through the top cover hole and not hold anything.

Simple, you just have to buy two sets of long screws, 1 set to screw the fans into the rad, then another set of screws to go through the case, through the fan, and into the rad.

Oh, and pictures would help us who aren't sitting in front of your problem.

you can use a washer ( ugly ) or try to make sure the top of the screw is big enough to fit without falling through.

unfortunately, i dont have a lian li so i cant really say,

maybe we should wait for someone with a lian li
