Max at 75 using a LinX 50pass run with a problem size of 25700. I think I might have to test my ram or something, though. crashed last night while stressing in linx at 1.416v. I think I'll take ram out of the equation and try again.

Well, I had thought things were going alright, even with slightly higher voltages needed to stay stable.

I played a bit of Civ5 today and realized after that I was at 1.408v like I was before all this. Thought, "Huh... interesting." Decided to LinX it while I went out to eat. Came back to a black screen. Rebooted and failed to post.

Long story short, I took everything apart, tried a bunch of stuff, finally took my Mega off and took the CPU out, reseated it after cleaning off the TIM and now I'm able to boot.

Strange.

Going to stress the heck out of it tonight at stock speeds. If it fails....

BTW: interesting observation that I missed before: my stock vCore is 1.232v.

Stressing at stock speeds turned out fine.

If I'm not stable (BSOD 0x101 errors and others like it, basically need more vCore) at 1.416 and instability only becomes apparent after 3 hours in LinX, should I go ahead and continue pressing for a stable vCore or should I back off on it, cut my losses, and shoot for a stable 4.2ghz overclock at a lower vCore?

I heard 1.5v is pretty much the highest you ever want to go for day-to-day overclocking, and I'm nearing that at 4.4ghz. (Sort-of.)

Opinions?

My 950 performs much the same, except with slightly lower Vcore. If possible, I'd try dropping the Dram frequency and lowering the volts there too. I typically find that the lower your other volts are, the happier your chip tends to be with your Vcore, in terms of staying stable.

Fair enough. I've been playing with other settings and will try that tonight. Today has been cable management day. Perchance I shall post end-result pictures later.

I'd LOVE to know what settings got your 950 to 5ghz even for only a short time. I did this to mine trying to copy you. lol

So... what did you do? Just curious at this point, for educations sake.

Also, I'm trying 200x21 right now and seem to need a LOT of vTT. Is that due to the high BCLK and higher QPI and higher Uncore or...? I'm guessing so, but wonder at the efficiency of it compared to 185x23 or something like that.

I've given up on 200x21, requires way too much vTT to be worthwhile. I'm gaining more in vTT than I lose in vCore.

Next to try lowering my RAM multiplier from x10 to x8. Maybe I can tighten the timings to compensate.

Did you mean to lower DRAM bus voltage? Or were you referring to the vTT (QPI/DRAM)?
