2600k and blend failure

Ok, so I let my machine run overnight doing prime95 Blend. I lost one of my workers about 5 hours in, and the machine ran the other 3 for an additional two hours. When I woke up this mourning, I saw this, stopped prime, and restarted. My computer is acting screwy as heck. On the first reboot, it gave me oc failed, which is ok and normal.

Cleared Cmos, restarted. Loaded my settings, with a tat more volatage and saved. Here's what worries me, when it restarted, it went through the post, and then the screen was black with random white numbers and letters sparatically across the screen.

I immediately shut down, cleared cmos, and repeated putting in settings exactly the same and saved. Then it boots up just fine, not showing any signs of weird activity. My question is, can running prime with a stopped worker somehow hurt either the chip or the motherboard?!

I would think not, and am suspect to think it's do to with all these beta bios' we're having to work with from Gigabyte. Ran a checkdisk and an sfc /scannow, with no problems found. And as I said, everything appears to be fine now, but I want you guys' opinions on what might have happend and if I should be worried.

I seriously doubt it can hurt the chip in any way. The motherboard malfunctions always. I returned my ud3 ( problems booting up, and actually saw those random letters too). The replacement is coming tomorrow.

Prime will not damage the chip if a worker fails and the tests continue. The program simply does not stress that core any longer. As long as your temps were ok, your chip should not be damaged. You may have an issue that was simply illuminated by the test (and failure).

thanks for the responses guys, + rep to relevant replies. I assumed it was a motherboard issue, and I'm pretty convinced.
