Choosing a new CPU, need advice.

My Budget is 110-120ish, I did a little research and I found I actually have to upgrade my Athlon 64 x2 in order to get the most out of my new GTX 460.

So here is what I've been looking at, which is better?
My mobo takes am2,am2+,am3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103912
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...scrollFullInfo
I should add I'm adding aftermarket cooling and I'm overclocking the heck out of it.
Edit: Not so much interested in the x2 because I don't want to risk unlocking cores just yet. So I'm trying to decide between that 920 up there and this 645 here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-885-_-Product

Also wanna know if a high HT speed makes a big difference in performance, say 3600mhz vs. 4000mhz. thanks.

I'd go with the quadcore. You can clock it as well making it a good choice.

My 2 cents tho

The dual core has potential to unlock all cores making it a quad core, This is all news to me.

Heres some quotes on the feedback for it.
"Decent price and potential to unlock additional cores. Mine unlocked to 4 cores and has been running stable and problem free."
"Unlocked to an X4 B65 using an Asus mobo"
"I got all 4 cores to unlock and this thing is the best value purchase I've ever made in a cpu. Love Love Love it..."
theres a few..

Also the dual core has 4000Mhz HT speed and the quad has 3600Mhz, does this make a big difference?

Nice, what determines the ability to be unlocked? Is there a way I can be certain before buying it??

560 or 565 has a higher unlock rate.

Read here that my mobo supports the unlocking of cores.
http://www.techenclave.com/cpu-mobo-...ng-140859.html
I just went into BIOS, I have the latest Bios update in my EC Config section I don't have the ACC option, I looked everywhere for it. Do I HAVE to have a quad or triple running to see that option?

Just because you unlock cores doesn't mean they will run good.

They got disabled for a reason, so I wouldn't go with that ;p (even tho they may be stable, it's all gambling)

to be on the safe side, and the reassuring self side, i'd just buy the quad and call it a day. No hassles, No headaches, No worries, just overclocking =D

Would I be loosing much in terms of performance getting the quad with 3600mhz HT over the Dual with 4000Mhz Transport?
