So here I am, typing this after a reformat. I'd like to personally thank the 11.1 drivers for making me really angry and putting me through lots of problems.
I reformatted because it was time for a reformat. It was over a year, system was just getting full of crap, so I did the yearly reformat. I reformat, install good ol' 10.12, everything's fine. I see that 11.1 launches, see a bunch of good comments from people saying they've seen nice FPS increases/general performance increases (even people without a 6xxx series).
I install em' over 10.12, restarted, everything was good at glance, but after a few hours of WoW (a game that's never ever been graphically demanding) I get a display driver crash. So I'm pissed, but I know it's easily solvable... Guess again. I uninstall 11.1, and give 11.1a hotfix drivers a shot, but same issue happens. Instead of hours, its days. So I had hope, but it was shot down even worse this time.
So I'm mad at the 11.x drivers at this point. I decide to go back to good ol' 10.12 and just sit at it. I uninstall 11.1a, reinstall 10.12, restart, everything is fine. Days later my Windows kept switching from Aero to Basic randomly. I launch BC2, with my sig rig I had 30-40 TOPS FPS not even in a fighting situation... So I reformatted, couldn't take the games anymore.
So here I am after the reformat, got everything situated. Download 10.12, install them. The install finished rather quickly and my screen didn't go black like it usually does when it installs drivers... But it said it was finished. Nothing happened after that, so I just restarted manually.
I come back to the same small resolution, as if the drivers weren't even installed. There's no CCC running in the taskbar, but it WAS running in processes. I opened it up, and it's blank... nothing there.
At this point I'm literally FED up with ATI's drivers. I do a system restore, sets me back 20 or so minutes and now here I am typing this as 47 recommended updates are installing... all over again.
I installed them again, and it magically works this time! I am so mad right now ._.
I'm not going to be "that guy" that whenever they get driver issues says they're going green or switching to Nvidia... But what I went through was really ridiculous, and reading this thread it seems lots of people are having similar issues. Overall, I'm just disappointed in ATI. Makes me wonder if they even test their drivers on multiple series of cards before they officially release them.
