My X5 folding rig :)

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, here is my X5 folding rig:

Well I didn't say that all the cores were in 1 case did I?

I will probably consolidate what I have there down to 1 or 2 rigs, they are all P4s, so not amazing, but I guess if I ran a few plus a few PCI graphics cards it might be ok

Some of the OEM features are pretty good, this HP has an inbuilt coolermaster shroud to go over the top of the heatsink and fan so it only sucks in cold air from the outside which is pretty cool.

probably wouldnt be worth the time, money or electricity?

Your room is a little messy.

If I were you try to sell those P4s and save up some cash for another GPU which will destroy all 5 of those p4 in PPD.

If they have PCI-e slots that would be nice. But make sure the psu can do it.

I used to run some 8800GTs in old rigs like that 2 years ago. I picked up 2 of those ThermalTake gpu psus for $25 each on sale and I was in business.

If you used them as bases for GPU farms it could be a decent set up. Probably not worth it to fold on the CPU's

sell on craigslist, build new folding rig

I agree with most of the posts above (not with the comment of your room being messy though ).

It'd be much better selling them for what you can get, and just buy a GPU instead.

I think I might part it out, there are 2 systems that are actually ok, I will probably recycle some of the cases, but take out the PSUs etc, there are some quite good heat sinks, so might upgrade 2 of them with fans and bits from the others, then sell on the CPUs I don't need

I have found that 1 has an MSI mobo, so I might be able to overclock it a bit hehe

What PPD do P4s get btw?

Ok well perhaps I can build my folding rig in stages, there are some bits like fans and things that I can take out of most of the cases etc, I can then perhaps run 1 or 2 of them and sell on the CPUs and some of the CD drives etc.

Then I can run the systems with some graphics cards and not run with any CPU folding, then when I upgrade the mobo and CPU to something that can actually fold I should have all the graphics cards and bits I need.

It will be an on going project lol
