[Mozilla] Firefox 4.0 Beta 10 Released - Page 3

I upgraded to beta 10 for Linux a few hours ago. It does seem to be a little better as far as memory usage. Usually by this time, I would be a little over a gig for system usage. That's with running a few other programs and my base system.

Right now I'm hovering about 890mb of total RAM usage and 240mb with Firefox itself. I'm pretty happy.

The one thing I don't like is I'm missing the folder icons next to my folders in my bookmarks. Not sure if that's a linux only issue or if you guys are running into it on windows.

Overall, how big are the changes going from Firefox 3 > 4? Noticeable differences?
The other issue I have is character encoding problems. If a site is using iso-8869-1 and I have it set to utf-8, characters won't show up correctly and it won't auto-detect.

While I'm all for releasing a quality, polished product, I can't help but ask "10 betas"? Really?

Did they get to beta 2 and change their mind or something? Sounds like they got overzealous and jumped the gun a bit.

In any case, Firefox has lost to Chrome in my world. I'll check out 4 when its finally released and extensions are updated to support it, but from what I've seen of the beta's I've been largely unimpressed. Used to be a huuuuuge firefox fan too.

You do realize Chrome has tons of betas with Chromium right?

Why do all the Chrome fanboys always show up to these Firefox threads? Get a life.

Betas are for feedback from testers, not the general public. According to this schedule, there will be one more beta 11. Then Firefox 4 RC will be released. Concluding with the final release of Firefox 4.

It is funny how people complain about too many betas when so many companies release beta level software as final release.

According to Chrome fanboys, Chrome apparently has only 1 beta or 2 till stable release.

The hardware graphic acceleration from beta9 showed some text pretty blurry. Seems like that issue is fixed in beta 10.

Cant wait for final release.

Lol slow booting, yea less than a second to boot first time after windows loads. DAMN I WANT MY SECOND OF LIFE BACK MOZILLA.

So is there any additions to this new piece of software besides the supposed "speed increase"? I'm downloading now, on leached wifi in the parking lot of a car repair shop, so we'll see how it is...

I hate updating browsers, extensions/plug-ins/add-ons never work.
