motherboard wont detect memory

recently my motherboard started acting up and i kept on getting BSODs. i check to see if it was my memory modules and i found the culprit. i have my memory configured in 2 DIMMs. first slot holds a 1 GB kingston 667mhz stick, 2nd slot holds a 2 GB centon 667mhz stick. i have switched both memory modules with working memory modules but it still wont detect my full 3 GB. i exchanged the centon for a new centon stick from my local tigerdirect but still no luck. i tried using just one stick at a time but it still wont post. the 1 GB stick works fine if i use it alone but the 2 GB stick wont work at all. help!!

mixing memory is never a good idea, even if that worked, it wouldn't be great as your not getting the dual channel
