1,000 Build?

Thread Starter
Well, I am looking to get my new build going since I am anticipating my tax refund to roll in in about a week.

I was looking at doing a 2500k build with a 560GTX that just came out but no matter what I do, I cross over the 1k line.

Any mock builds would be greatly appreciated.

Also, with the single 560 and a 2500k processor, what kind of PSU is a minimum?

And I think I figured it out like a charm, specially since there is a Micro Center by me.
They do not have the gtx 560's yet nor the case that I want, but luckly Fry's right down the road from them does.

MC Shopping Cart:
Asus P8P67 PRO LGA 1155 ATX Intel Motherboard
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
Intel Core i5 2500K LGA 1155 Boxed Processor
Patriot Viper II Sector 5 Series 4GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit with 3DMark Vantage
LG 22X Internal SATA Super Multi DVD Drive
OCZ Technology 750 Watt Fatal1ty Series Modular ATX Power Supply

Sub-Total: 512.95
Tax: 42.32
Total: 555.27

Fry's Shopping Cart:
NZXT Phantom Full Tower Case
Nvidia GTX 560 Ti 1GB

Sub-Total: 389.98
Tax: 32.18
Total: 422.16

Grand Total:
977.43

Now I know that there is no CPU cooler, but that will have to wait for another time, but the MC close to me does have Silver Arrows that they sell for 99 bucks.

What do you think?
Managed to do the 2500k, a sata 6 7200rpm drive, decent memory, good GPU, the only thing that I am unsure about is the PSU. However, at 80+ bucks cheaper than any other PSU in the 750watt range, it's going to have to do.

And ***...
Seems that MC sold out of the Mobos, so that did not get figured in to the price above...
So that leaves me 190 bucks short... /argh

You don't need 750 watts for your build, but it allows for another 560 in the future. A single 560 + i5 2500K should run of a high quality 500+ Watt, I'd recommend a Seasonic X-650.

You could run that rig with a fairly large overclock on both GPU and CPU on a good 500W PSU.

OP: Go buy your CPU and motherboard from Microcenter, should come to $180 for the processor and $140ish for a Gigabyte P67UD4 or Asus P67Pro. Then go to Newegg and get:

Here's the power consumption on an overclocked GTX 560 i7 920 system which consumes more power than an i5 2500K by far:

The mobo trough MC is still 180 and 180 for the cpu, bringin to 360+tax, so 380ish.
Add shipping to the NE cart and were still roughly 100 over budget.
I am thinking of just expanding my budget by another 200 bucks, which should be doable and getting the bigger psu in case i did want to to sli in the future and getting a beefier cpu cooler.

thanks for all the imput!
