C300 128GB SSD problems

Thread Starter
My new SSD just got here today and I've managed to get windows installed and disabled hibernation and such but I just ran some speed tests and it doesn't seem to be doing to well. I ran HD tune pro and got 180.95MBS average
190MBs max
and it's rated for 355MBs.
I'm using a sata 3 port so I don't know what it's problem is.
It is still faster than my old drive but not by much?
Any thing i might be doing wrong? Do I have to have a sata 3 cable?

Are you sure that you connected the SSD to the correct SATA port? Did you installed the OS on AHCI mode?

SATA cables are SATA cables, so, you DON'T need a SATA 6Gb/s cables, that doesn't exist.

Well my mobo has only 2 sata 3 ports and I assume they are the two white ones.. I just tried changing it to one of my blue ports and speeds went up to 234MBs..

What would be causing my sata 3 ports to perform so crappy?

Do you have all your mobo drivers installed and updated? Not sure if SATA 3 ports need an upgraded driver under Windows 7 or not... would have to check on your mobo manufacturer's website

Update from the Manufactures web site. Your disks may have out of date drivers.

Third party SATA controller are pits.

Your best bet is to run into the "slower" SATA 3.0Gb/s ports offered by Intel.

I don't mind if the sata 3 port messes up occasionally but i want to be able to use it and get faster speeds than the sata 2 port.. doesn't make sense

Yeah, for the MoBo. Your bios should be 1602. SSD's don't have driver to my knowledge.
