XFX 6870, no voltage mod 1000mhz?

Thread Starter
Hey folks of OCN

As we speak Furmark is running, at a 1000mhz clock, without voltage mod redface.gif
As far as I know i've only seen people reach those clocks with massive voltage mods.

Am I doing something wrong...?

Furmark doesn't really test stability, just how hot a card can get. I've run furmark for 1/2 hour with clocks that would crash instantly when loaded for folding or a benchmark.

Which program would you advise me to run, in order to test for errors?

OCCT's GPU stress test usually does it for me. 30 minutes of that baby.

Or you could test it out in your favorite game. Keep playing until you see artifacts.

Run 3DMark or play a game and keep an eye on those temps with GPUZ or HWMonitor. You want to be able to see the max temp during load and those two will show you min, max, and av. temps thumb.gif I also recommend that youi run GPUTool to test for artifacts as well

I really don't need to pay attentions to my temps tongue.gif
Watercooled, and with furmarks 100% stress / burn it never got above 46 degrees.

i'll run occt now, brb

Yeah, furmark is pretty much useless, unless you're testing the cooling performance.

Not recommended for artifact scanning.

I can run it @ 1000mhz with stock voltages, but fire up a game, and bam: hard lock up.

Lol, 118 errors in 20 seconds.

I'll see how far I can poke this card with stock voltages.
As I went for with my entire system, I want to overclock it as much as I can, with stock voltages.

980 mhz, 0 errors in 20 minutes so far (still running)

Though, I noticed something weird happening in MSI Afterburner (see image)

Is that what you call a "Lock up" ?
