Whelp. It was working, now it isn't!

Let's start off with specs.

E8400
ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo
2GB A-data Vitesta 800
2GB Crucial Ballistix 800
9800GTX+
PCPC Silencer 750W PSU

ok, so last night I was doing some overclocking, and things were really going well:

CPU: ~4.25GHz 1.3v
RAM: ~1141MHz 2.2v 5-5-5-15 60-Precharge

OK great. Bandwidth went from 6.5GB/s in Sandra to 8.7GB/s and the arithmetic saw about a 30% boost over stock. No issues with prime95 for rather short periods (about an hourish) on every size, and the cpu only got up to about 65 if I was really pushing it.

So.. I decided to run the in-place test overnight. the next morning, it had apparently shut down. ok, so it wasn't as stable as I had thought. Just turn the clocks down and you're good to go.

so I did.RAM down to 1128, 1081, 950....950 was when it seemed to stop giving me issues. the faster speeds would result in BSOD, freezes, or RAM error about 2 minutes into prime95 testing. what gives?

This has happened before with this same setup. for some reason it randomly decides not to run at lower clocks, then it does fine at amazing clocks, then falls back down. Last time I fixed it, I changed some settings around, then changed them back, and it worked.?? I have a feeling it has to do with the board's Auto clock skew adjustment, like it covercompensates one way or the other, and that changing the settings changes how it adjusts it. what do you guys say?
