What would this accomplish?

It obviously missing a component and a ghetto "re-flow" would very likely do nothing to fix it.

I can tell you now its either a cap, resistor or diode and not a transistor. Im thinking its a cap.

Depending on your electronics tech lvl it may be repairable but most likely the best thing for your scenario would be contacting the seller you bought it from or the manufacture for RMA service.

Good luck.

Yes it does start with C and my tech lvl is great but i dont have the tools or confidence to fix it

How old is the card and how long has it been od'ed to all hell as you say?

Caps have a shelf life and eventually fail depending many circumstances.

i built the system this summer and have been running a pretty high OC (for a card with no voltage control) for about a week now (it has been really cold here and i am sucking air in from outside, it warmed up today)

You OC'ed too high, and your graphic card was one of the few unlucky one that the Capacitor blew due to faulty manufacture.

If it still underwarranty, just ask for replacement, but don't tell them you OC'ed the hell out of it

HIS has at least a 2 year warranty I'm sure (I haven't checked recently). Just call them up or send them an email, and say your card quit working. Play stupid wink.gif.

just gonna throw this out there i highly doubt this but, are there any fellow ocn'ers in the area of Burlington VT that would let me borrow a vid card for like an hour to get my stuff off my desktop???? (stuff for college that needs to be turned in) or if they are really generous let me use the card until mine comes back from RMA???
^^Go buy a really cheap one? And keep it for spare, everyone needs a spare card.
