Just a quick performance reference for 6950 unlocks

Just been messing around with the shader unlocking, and here are my results.

I was wondering what the difference would be, after unlocking all the shaders, between the 6950 clock and the 6970 clock.

Well here it is:

6950 clocks and unlocked shaders

This is interesting... can you benchmark 6950 stock. I'd like to see the speed difference without the extra 128 shader.

Also, I think results may very depending on different games.

I just did a little test of my own.

1920x1080. 8aa, very high, DirectX 10

880/1375 @ 1.11v Crysis average 39.73 fps.
960/970 - 1400 @ 1.3v Crysis Avg 40-41 fps.

yeah it doesnt make or break the performance , in some instances the flash got me 10+fps in some benchies e.g lost planet 2 .

Yes but are you comparing the flash to unlock shaders? That's a great bonus. However, pumping the RAM up doesn't provide much benefit *in this test* so when people worry about frying their ram, there isn't really a need to

To the guy that posted, I will get it done tomorrow as I will need to re-flash and its 11:45 here

Edit: Actually I do have a stock bench screenie, although the cpu speed is different to the above so I will update the above, then re-bench with the same cpu speed tomorrow
Edit2: Fail, I looked at the stock screen shot thinking 'Oooo 10fps difference...' but the bench settings are different too so I shall do again tomorrow

Hehe your faster cpu and RAID 0 gave you a a 0.04fps lead

I joke, nice rig though, the core 2 quad shall live on all mighty

Your CPU is actually faster at 4 GHz and raid don't effect gaming performance only load time.

I thought overclocking 6950 to over 950/1400 will give an increase of at least 5-10 FPS minimum. Your test just prove me wrong. I think I'll keep it at stock for a while or run it at 6970 settings since 90% of 6950 can reach that clock with an extra voltage of .010

I wouldn't use the Crysis benchmark as any indicator of real world performance. I always saw much higher framerates in that benchmark than I did in game. It is very possible that benchmark is cpu limited. At the end of the day that is still a 10% overclock in a notoriously gpu limited game.

I would be willing to bet that the difference would be larger in game and in the Warhead benchmark.

TweakTown have benchmark the 6950 @ 970/ 1365. The fps increases are not bad (actually pretty good) and it varies b/w several games at different resolutions.

Realworld performance? Whats that? If you mean testing the fps in game and somehow ensuring the load is exactly the same each time, I'll have a look into doing that too.
