Overclocking to 4ghz on nehalem, and get get dram to 800

Thread Starter
I'm trying to overclock my i7 to 4 ghz but when I try to change the dram frequency all I can do is set it to a predetermined speed that I don't want. I want to set it to 800 but my only choices are 1113, 1483, and so one, on the side of my bios it says "For locked CPU only DDR3-800 and DDR3-1066 can work...so am I supposed to unlock it? I'd appreciate the help even though this isn't really about intel CPUs idk where else to put it.

Post this in Intel Memory. Btw, you need to set your ram so that it matches up w/ your overclock. Hope this help.

When you raise your BCLK it in turn raises the memory rate - if you had a stock clocked i7 then sure you could select 800 or 1066, but if your at 4ghz, then the lowest you will be able to select will be the 1113 because that is the lowest memory divider you can go. Its not like you can set your processor at one number, and then set your memory at some other arbitrary number, they both correlate.

As another note, the lowest DDR3 Memory you can get is 1066.
