go sli 470's or stay single?

sli 470's worth it?

i dont really have much problems running anything right now but if i got another 1 i could max out anything out right now.

i can get 2 msi 470 for $250

if i sold 1 on here for 180 thats like only paying 130 for the other 1 plus $100 for another EK FC block.

would it be worth it or should i just stick with the 1 i have and wait till prices drop on 5XX cards?

I thought around here that's what we were about... pushing things just because we can, NOT because me should
Are the 470's going to be used for folding? if so, I'd say yeah buddy! I just payed $160 for my GTX460, and I would have lept @ that deal... but still my humble opinion.
BTW next time, don't give away your "seller's secrets" for your "buyers" to see so soon

I would jump on that deal. I might even jump on that MSI card for $180 if you do it.

I'm having a mental debate over sli gtx 470's or waiting for kepler for another single card.

The performance is just one aspect, but another big one is power consumption.

We've already seen what 32nm did for INTEL with their 2nd gen core i products, if its anything like that for NVIDIA/AMD it might be worth the wait based on power draw alone.

Though if I didn't have anything and could get gtx 470's for $250 I'd jump all over that like a *inappropriate*.

Haha, I must say I would have a long time ago even for another one at $300 if my PSU permitted. I had too weak a PSU and I would have had to patch my Motherboard for it to support SLI. I'm going to wait it out now.

Another thing to consider is drivers. I haven't heard many bad things about SLI, but there are problems sometimes. Two cards arent exactly X2 performance either.

470's in SLI scale great almost like a 5970 plus you can always stick to another monitor to enable nvidia surround , anyways i dont like dual GPU configs because of the power consumption ( electric bills kill me lol ) and sometimes adding a second card isnt a hell of a jump in performance. At 250 USD those cards are cheaper than a GTX480 but better ill go for it but first you need to change that PSU, just my opinion .

That PSU is plenty for 2 GTX470s, If I understand correctly you're going to sell the thrid one?

if i get them i will deffiently sell 1

My hx650 is very close to the limit since i also have a pump, 9 fans, fan controller, aquerro 4.00, 2 hard drives and a ssd

talking that into consideration and hoping that kepler is only about 6 months away i might have to pass on the deal.

i know how i am.... i would get the 470's, sell 1 buy a ek block for the second one. have to upgrade my PSU, buy a 3rd monitor so i can use nvidia surround, and still want to upgrade to kepler when it comes out. not to mention the Canon SLR im thinking about buying right now and i just lost my job and wont be back to work for a bout a month.....

hopefully these 470's will show up on OCN soon and someone will get the great deal i think im gonna have to pass up on
