Seeing as that guy isn't responding and you agree with him, what can a console do that a PC can't? I'm really curious.

I love both, PS3 an PC equally. I gotta say that I do miss playing games on PC sometimes, since I sold my GPU :/ and can't really play any games without low fps >_< So when I get a job, I'm going to start upgrading my PC.

Ok, so it WAS only meant to be a joke, and not taken too seriously, hence why it was posted in the PC Section and not Video Games in general.

There are advantages to both.

Consoles

Pros.
- You can sit on your sofa and play it
- Easier to have real friends play with you
- Cheaper to get the console and be game ready
- You will always be able to play games brought out for the console
- It's small and doesn't require a desk

Cons.
-
It cannot be updated (component wise)
- It can't multi-task like a PC can. From Photoshop to Word docs. It's mainly a one trick pony.
- The controlers are restricting when compared with a mouse and keyboard. Making for awkward gaming if you aren't used to them.
- Lesser graphics, because of the dated hardware. Low resolution.
- No modding certain games.

The computer pro's and con's are just opposites of the ones liste above, so won't write them all out.

I personally like sitting down on a desk chair, up right, and playing my high resolution, graphically superior, modified games. Whilst being able to alt-tab and perform millions of other tasks at my leisure, using a mouse and keyboard.

Any time I've been round a mate's house, and played a game there, I've been disappointed with the graphics, or laggyness of the game (from the consoles inability to handle the game).

*laughs*...I dont but hurt at all... I own a good pc and have Wii and PS3... Wii is for frivolous games and ps3 is more a blue ray player these days... IMO 360 is a VERY dumbed down modern pc...

I game nearly EXCLUSIVELY on PC these days... can do SO much more than consoles... and usually get games cheaper than consoles...even when used...

and for the pirate issue ...have a coworker that mods 360 drives to bypass the media check for burned copies of games... so IMO that it is easier to pirate games on pc is mute...it happens EVERYWHERE... the consoles are usually people that are lazy in regards to doing so..but if one can provide a service that will do it for them( like my co worker) then they will take it... so Devs should pay attention to this.. the pirate excuse is dead and buried...now make some decent games for pete's sake

i've owned plenty of consoles over the years, just about every major platform... and console games lose out to the PC in almost every single comparison...

you can play PC games on your sofa...

my real life friends play PC games with me... via internet or lan...

assuming i didn't have a PC, maybe a console would be cheaper but let's see... 300 bucks for a console... or $150 for a decent video card... not to mention console games are traditionally more expensive

form factor is a pro for the console? really? PCs come in small cases too...

other than slow and sloppy game play with over-priced poorly implemented features and the constant threat of not being able to use your equipment if the vendor finds out you modified it -- please, tell me how consoles are better...

What do you do if you break/damage/lose a console game disk? buy a new one?

What do you do if your console has a fatal error? buy a new one?

other idea's like 4 way split screen... and finding something to do while i wait for the other people to finish their turn are some different points of consoles...

Why does everyone keep saying one thing OTHER than console exclusive games??

I bought my ps3 purely for that purpose. It was either buy a console or keep missing out.

And that rig was built late 2006.

It could play Metro, Crysis, GTA IV....all of them just fine. GTA IV was just about slide show bottomed out (just about), but it was playable for the most part. So PC gaming isn't as hardware needy as we all seem to THINK it is. We only upgrade our parts because we like to have the best of the best .

Name ONE thing a console has that a PC doesn't, other than console exclusive games. Just one.
three words

PLUG AND PLAY

all games run perfectly without the need to download patches or driver fixes. for the most part. No need to configure anything. Just put the game in and go. No need to roll back your drivers or troubleshoot why the game is running less than ideal. Don't get me wrong I love PC games for the graphics but you have to admit there are some good things about consoles.

The guy said "lots of good things PC doesn't right now" and exclusives are easily countered with the fact that PC's also have awesome exclusives. It just saves time to put that comment away. He's making it sound like the PS3 is some magical wonder machine that has tons more functionality than a PC, and I would like to know one thing that it can do that the PC can't. Does it have a robotic hand that wanks me off during game? Does it bake me strips of bacon? Seriously though, I'd like to know what "lots of good things PC doesn't right now" entails.
