build advice

Hello, been lurking on these forums for a while now and figured it was time to ask for some help. I'll be doing a new build soon and wanted to get some opinions on parts. I already have the nzxt phantom as my case. I also have a corsair 650W psu and a 500gb hd. Any suggestions/additions/improvements? I have a fairly tight budget of 1000$.

ASRock P67 Extreme4-$152.99

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB-$104.99

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212-$29.99

HIS H687F1G2M Radeon HD 6870-$224.99

Intel Core i5-2500K-$224.99

LG DVD±RW SuperMulti Drive-$15.99

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit-$99.99

Subtotal:$853.93

looks solid though i dont know about the mobo ... a few ppl like to make ur build better in there eyes but in the end you have to live with what u buy.

I would go onto the mobo's web site and check the manual to see if the ram is in there, though it should work just fine

While the 15% off desktop memory sale is going on I would get these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231431

This combo will save you 50$ on your card and CPU

I would also look into a SSD, budget allowing.

you can always go larger. I have the same one but in 120GB and love it. I use steam_mover so the games I am playing are on my SSD and they load times are awesome.

I would switch to the Gigabyte UD3 which is cheaper and upgrade your cooler to the Megahalems with 2 1850RPM Gentle Typhoons.

Edit this one is perty

Also, make sure you actually need all 8GB of that RAM. (The vast majority of people do not use over 4GB)

More memory than you use is actually a bad thing, not a good thing.
