Dell U2311H and gaming

Thread Starter
I play mainly mmo and FPS and SCII and that is what my new PC will be used for.

Will be getting a GTX570 for the GPU.

I keep reading IPS is the way to go so figure I would give it a try.

My only worry is the 8ms response time.

Can anyone comment on how this monitor does for the type of games I play?

Mainly gaming monitor should be under 5ms, from what I read on some threads.

Mine works great, no ghosting at all. IPS is awesome for gaming.

My IPS has a 16ms response time. I have never noticed ghosting - only beauty.

Oops, didn't see it was IPS x) Sorry!

I got this monitor a few weeks ago along with a GTX570 and I cannot be more pleased. There is no noticeable ghosting and my monitor is devoid of any defects that people claim this model suffers from.

I highly recommend this monitor for any use and especially love the quality of IPS versus TN. The colors are vibrant and vivid while remaining accurate and true.

Thanks for the replies, is there a reason that this monitor at 8ms is fine when it is recommended at 5ms or lower for gaming?

I feel the issue with response times and refresh rates get blown out of proportion too often. Many of today's monitors are more than adequate for gaming.
Color accuracy, pixel pitch, and panel type are more important considerations.

For what it's worth, of all the people i know who use a computer every day of their lives, only 2 ppl had ever commented on being able to see anytype of 'ghosting', and this was on certain DLP/LCOS television sets.
It's like having 20/10 vision. You can tell or u cant.

there's a saying, 'Once u go IPS, you never go back?

Dell IPS panels get high ratings across the board. theyre on sale, buy it now.
Now someone buy my sig monitors so i can switch to IPS

I think these 2ms response times aren't useful anyway, as that is faster than the framerate.
