OK first things first. Did you try setting it to standard definition to see if that works? You might have to use a different input on the TV.
Or did you take all the cables apart, see if there's anything wrong on the ends or where you plug them in on the xbox and TV?
And you're saying you're not getting RROD? That should mean that you don't need to open up the case and rework anything. Sounds like a wiring issue somewhere.
If you had RROD, then I'd look for a problem with the console. If not, I'd think it's wiring.
