Core i7 2600k confused about the speeds

Thread Starter
I just upgraded my system to these specs:
Intel core i7 2600k sandybridge 3.4ghz
asus p8p67 pro
g skill rip jaws 4gb 1600mhz
ati radeon hd 4870 1gb (old)
600W OCZ

Well I was looking around in CPUID CPU-Z And it says my core clock speed is like 1600 mhz and my ram clock speed is 800mhz which is wrong because i think in bios it says other wise. Anyone know anything about this new motherboard and chipset. Any help would be appreciated, If i explained that all jacked up I can try to explain it differently.

It means when your computer isn't doing anything, idling, those settings make it so that your clock speed automatically downclocks to a lower speed to save power and produce less heat.

It means that your CPU reduces the frequency and voltage when you idle to save power.

..But you could've googled that.

I think you should move on to google.

C1E and Speedstep in combination down clocks your CPU, to save power and reduce heat.

If you don't know how to get into your BIOS, then I ask myself how you got the CPU in the socket.

I know how to get into the bios.. I only asked what C1E and Speedstep is and if I should keep it on or off.

Question you ask yourself...

1. Do I want 3.4Ghz 24/7?

2. Do I want 1.6Ghz when I'm at desktop then it kicks to 3.4 when I load a game.
