Temps on 955 BE

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I'm wondering what's going on with my PII 955...right now it's idling at 44 degrees while I'm just streaming a hockey game. It's usually around 40 degrees idle and I've seen other people here with much lower temps. The voltage is at 1.34 and I did a mild multiplier overclock to 3.6ghz. The room temperature is fairly warm because of it being a small room with a heater but I usually leave the window open.
I've got the Hyper TX3 and even reset the tim before and it didn't change much. I find this a little weird because my 460 idles around 34-35 degrees. Can you guys suggest what I should do because I would like to try for a more substantial overclock but it doesn't seem possible with these idle temps.

Thank You.

Idle temps mean nothing. My 955 is clocked to 3.89GHz and idles around 36 C, but full load is around 59 C.

Blend has been running for over an hour now. Everything is stable with 3615mhz 18x200 with 1.344v. Temps are 56-57c on average and drop by about 2 degrees when I leave the window completely open. Looks safe to keep at this but if I want to get closer to 3.8 or even 4 I should probably look at a better cooler. How much difference would I see with say a v8?

Thanks

Its fine to keep it at what you have now with those temps, but I would invest in another cooler if you want to overclock more..

I am a bit out of it lately with the current top coolers, but I think you could do better then a V8..
Do you have a price range?

Alright, here is my screenshot of the test.

I don't exactly have a price range for a cooler, but considering I went with a 955 instead of say, an i7 980x should say I'm more towards a cheaper option so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again guys
