120fps Bad Company 2

Thread Starter
I've currently got a 5870 2mb jobby and its pretty decent at knocking out 60fps, on the whole, I've got a spanky monitor that will do 120. The 6990 seems to be taking an age to be released so I am looking now at the GTX 580, how many of these will need to get me on my merry way? I think I can fit 3 of these bad boys in if I really need to but I hope not...

Unfortunatley you cant see any more than 60fps, some say you cant see any more than 30 (doesnt really seem true, also there are droops below 30 when you are at 30 average)

If I were you I would buy 1 580.

Well actually, If I were you I would just be content, but if you feel like you need to UPGRADE, get 1 580 and if its not enough for you, get another. (a 580 is much more powerful than a 5870. probably are 1.75x)

A 480 is noticeable more powerful.

Also I doubt there are any monitors that arent 1920x1080 or higher res that he would buy..

you can see as much as your monitors refresh rate. you cant really compare how fast the eye captures an image to how fast a monitor displays it.

a 120hz monitor will display 120FPS and you will be able to notice the difference between 60fps and 120fps.

Sli 560s should be good for 3D but I would buy sli 570's because there are some demanding games out there.

I'm getting around 70 fps on one 480. 2 580's should easily hit 120 average if not minimum.

EDIT: 70 fps minimum

QFT

The difference between gaming at 120hz and 60hz is like day and night. Any game I play at 60fps now looks/feels laggy. Anything above 100fps looks perfect. And a game vsynced at 120fps has the ability to make one drool.

A lot of people will claim you can't see the difference. And Im almost certain these people dont actually own a 120hz monitor.

Oh gosh, not another "your eyes cant see over 60 fps". It has been proven that the eye can see a flash of light at about 1/200 of a second long, therefore you could techinally see upto 200 fps and notice the difference, and thats also why there are 120hz tv screens, because you cant see it amiright?
