The modded bios is the safest way but I have seen no proof that a 6970 bios has killed any cards.

^This. 6970 bios killing cards is utter nonsense. A few reports which were most likely due to bad drivers or negligence have been extremely overblown and exxagerated. Please stop spreading the rumor of 6970 bios danger. /yawn

Bought it at Canada Computers on Jan 8, I have until Feb 8 or so.
canada computers dont have a good reputation they are cheap but even thought it is risky :S try to RMA or if you can flash back to your original 6950 if you flash back you will know if it is the problem .

What are you smoking? I've had no issues with them and i haven't heard of anyone having problems. And you don't RMA sapphire cards unless you really need to, it takes ages to get anything out of them.

I was playing the RIFT Beta and suddenly the game got artifacts everywhere on the screen, and it looked like when the drivers crash and everything freezes and looks messed up but I could still move in-game, so I closed the game and even on my desktop it was all messed up so I did a restart and now it's fine but I'm still scared.

I got the card like 2+ weeks ago, flashed it to 6970 BIOS and overclocks a little bit to 900/1400, I read a lot about the damage it can do to memory so I flashed to Asus 6950 BIOS with unlocked shaders and I did the Asus SmartDoctor overclock enhancement on AMD Overdrive so I could go past the limit and I overclocked to 880/1350.

Should I just go back to my original Sapphire 6950 BIOS and leave it alone? Or return it the store while I'm still in the 30 day window to replace it with them?
i am currently in the process of returning my 6950, i had an XFX model, i didnt even flash, got my new psu put it in my system started playin Stalker and GTA IV and both games were showing artifacts and my card was making this horrible whinin noise. so yeh send it back get yourself a brand new one and try get um to send you a 6970 in return for all the messin arround.

Those green dots in GTA4, thats a known driver issue. Check the first thread that I linked to in my last post. Those artifacts in Stalker, I see them too. You sent in your card for an RMA due to driver issues. That whining noise, my past three or four video cards have done that too. It's kind of normal on these larger power hungry cards. Let me guess it was the most noticeable at the Stalker main menu when your fps was really high?
