New build need help

Thread Starter

I am making a new build, Here is what I have chosen so far. I will link everything and then tell you at the bottom what I need advise on thank you.

G.Skill Turbulence II Memory Cooling Fan 3500rpm

G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL7D-4GBRM - Memory - 4 GB : 2 x 2 GB - DIMM 240-pin - DDR3 - 1600 MHz / PC3-12800 - CL7 - 1.6 V - unbuffered - non-ECC

Cooler Master Silent Pro M1000 Series Modular 1000W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Active PFC Power Supply RSA00-AMBAJ3-US

EVGA GeForce GTX470 1280 MB DDR5 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card 012-P3-1470-AR X2 IN sli

Cooler Master V8 Nickel Plated Copper Base Aluminum Fins 8 Heatpipes Core i7 1366 CPU Cooler - (RR-UV8-XBU1-GP)

ASUS LGA 1155 - P67 - SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 Supported ATX Motherboard P8P67 EVO

Intel Core i7-2600 Processor with 8 MB Cache, 3.40 GHz for Socket LGA1155 - Boxed

Cooler Master 932 blue edition
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-213-_-Product

So that is what I have for now. My questions are as follows.

1. Do I have enough power with the cooler master psu to power everything?
2. Is this case as good with air flow as the HAF-X? I really cant see spending $200 on the X which I might add isnt the right color, i need the fans and stuff blue not red, to match my mouse, mousepad, and keyboard.
3. If the 932 isnt, is there anywhere I can order the HAF-X with blue fans instead of red? I highly believe Cooler master should allow us to choose which led colors we want in the case that we order.
4. How many blue LED fans do I need to order along with this case and how many does it hold?
5. Do I need to replace the 200mm fans or are they suitable?
6. Do I have enough air flow for SLI on the cards? I will never go with water cooling as I have no idea how to hook any of that stuff up.
7. Is the CPU cooler good enough for the processor? I heard that it is compatable with socket 1155 and then I have heard that it isnt compatable.
8. I need one open PCI slot along with the duel SLI cards. I believe I still have an open PCI slot with the MOBO I have chosen but I would like a double check on this one. I need the open PCI slot for my PCI nic card. Yes it is a PCI card and not a PCI-E card.
9 I was told that the v8 is NOT compatable with the new 1155 socket, is this true? If it is, does the v6GT work with the socket I have chosen?

Thank you and I am sorry for all of the questions. I just want to make sure I have enough room, power, air flow to keep the heat away,.

Also in case you need what oter parts are going to be going with this set up it is as follows, I already have the parts listed below

Logitech G9X Mouse
Logitech G11 keyboard
Cyber Snipa Tracer glowing blue mousepad (acrylic glass)
Razer Megalodon
I-Inc 28' monitor
Seagate Barracuda 500gb HDD
Windows 7 home x64

Also, if you guys think that there is a little bit better motherboard or somthing that can give me more bang for the buck, please feel free to post it. Thanks agian.

Also, if you guys think that there is a little bit better motherboard or somthing that can give me more bang for the buck, please feel free to post it. Thanks agian.
1. Do I have enough power with the cooler master psu to power everything?
Yes. and plenty of room to spare.

2. Is this case as good with air flow as the HAF-X? I really cant see spending $200 on the X which I might add isnt the right color, i need the fans and stuff blue not red, to match my mouse, mousepad, and keyboard.
Yes. the 932 and HAF X are nearly the same case, with the X having minor cosmetic updates + usb 3.0 ports up front. u can add those later in the future.

3. If the 932 isnt, is there anywhere I can order the HAF-X with blue fans instead of red? I highly believe Cooler master should allow us to choose which led colors we want in the case that we order.
you can get the large 230mm fans from , Newegg, amazon, or directly from Coolermaster.

4. How many blue LED fans do I need to order along with this case and how many does it hold?
The case is already filled with fans. there is 1 empty spot for another 120mm fan if u want to add. Also, in the 2 spots where the 230mm fans are located (top and door panel), u can swap those those fans out and place four 120mm fans in the door, and 2 120mm/140mm fans on top

5. Do I need to replace the 200mm fans or are they suitable?
Dont need to replace them, they are great.

6. Do I have enough air flow for SLI on the cards? I will never go with water cooling as I have no idea how to hook any of that stuff up.
yes, if u go SLI, each video card can take up 2 extra slots for large/aftermarket fans.

7. Is the CPU cooler good enough for the processor? I heard that it is compatable with socket 1155 and then I have heard that it isnt compatable.
yes, it is compatible. Even the stock cooler would be good enough, albeit louder

8. I need one open PCI slot along with the duel SLI cards. I believe I still have an open PCI slot with the MOBO I have chosen but I would like a double check on this one. I need the open PCI slot for my PCI nic card. Yes it is a PCI card and not a PCI-E card.
you should be ok, depending how big the gpu fans are.

9 I was told that the v8 is NOT compatable with the new 1155 socket, is this true? If it is, does the v6GT work with the socket I have chosen?
v8 CPU fan is fine. the only change is pin count.

Thank you and I am sorry for all of the questions. I just want to make sure I have enough room, power, air flow to keep the heat away,.

1k psu units are recommended for tri fire/sli setups. You can Definitely use a 850w psu for just a sli/crossfire setup.

So in retrospect your 1k psu is overkill for your current build unless you plan to buy more graphics cards in the future.

The case is fine, cheap alternatives would be 922 or 920. They already are very simular in case of just strictly air cooling, if you want to watercool haf 932 and haf x is recommended.

I think the current case holds around 3 top 120mm, 1 back 120mm, 1 front panel 120mm and 4 side panel 120mm. But there are enough fans and airflow already, so your wont be needing to buy fans.

No need to replace the 200mm fans they are fine for your needs.

Airflow is fine for the case, all your questions about the airflow have been answered in numerous threads on the forum, a quick search would have answered all your questions.

So lets break it down for you, if you just plan to air cool and sli, you will not nedd to buy any more fans, the ones included are fine and will fit your needs.

CPU cooler is fine, however there are better choices. Such as NH-D14, silver arrow, megahalem, Thermalright Venomous X. I would go with one of those, mind as well get one of the best air cooler now and not have to upgrade later down the road.

As long as the cpu heatsink offers a mounting bracket for 1156 socket, it will fit the sandybridge 1155 socket.

Your sli setup will not allow for any space between the two cards when you sli or crossfire, just make sure you have that nice 200mm fan blowing fresh air onto the cards.

Overall everything looks good, you might consider a smaller class such as 912 or 922 haf if you dont plan on going water cooling, PSU is way overkill, a 850 is recomended, but can probbly get away with a 750w. Corsair antec seasonic are the three i recomended, there are more but those are the ones off the top of my head.

the ram cooling fan is kind of excessive, there are heatsinks on the ram, it should be fine without. I would save the money and get dual monitors before getting dual video cards.

Thanks all for the feedback. I did look around different cases last night and I did see a couple that looked cool that I would consider purchasing over the HAF 932 blue edition. They are as follows. I dont know if these cases would have the room or keep my system as cool as the haf 932 so here they are.

Antec Lanboy Air
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129093
(With this case, I would have to purchase all of the fans to have the 15 total, I know it sounds stupid but I dont like having a case where there is a spot for a fan but no fan there)

Antec DF-85
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129087
(I loved this case because it had really easy accessable fan filters, somthing that my HAF 922 doesnt have, and the one fan filter it does have is a S#!T to get to)

and last but not least, the HAF X
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-225-_-Product
(I like that it has the extra 200mm fan on top and its features but I think its alittle to much for me to and I dont believe I need all of that it has.)

James - Life is too (blankin) short, IMHO go for the HAF X if you like the case.
