the Scythe Big Shuriken should fit in there I read. add a higher CFM fan upfront and I should be ok I think.

Shouldn't be too bad... it's just an i3 and the Q08 comes with 2 case fans.

She doesn't need the video card. I just think it would be a cool project.

And you honestly don't have that many options when it comes to a mini ITX board.

if you're not going to use the PCIe slot, then yes, SBS will fit. But it will block the PCIe slot on a H55.

That's funny... I just built my wife one with the exact same mobo and LianLi case (RED version though)...

I have built over 50 PCs so far, and by far it was the most PITA build I did so far...

First off, the USB plug cable in the front will not reach the motherboard pins... Which is fine since it's so cramped in there that even one less cable is good news.

Second, the Power LEDs and HDD LEDs will not reach the motherboard either, so i just ended up discarding those. I would have been nice though to see something to signify that it was on... Unlike my other cases with moderately loud fans, I built this PC to be almost silent...

Third, the whole lack of active cooling solution of this case worried me a bit... Sure it has plenty of ventilation holes, but without either fans sucking air in or pushing air out, I got worried a bit about over heating... I did use a stock HS with the i3-530 though... What I did was pulled the fan out of the PSU and replaced it with a CoolerMaster R4 fan instead, and connected it to the motherboard, without fan control... This way, at least the hot air would be exhausted a bit better...

As far as the look of the case, it is great... I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST MODULAR PSU!!! I just used an old Corsair 400W PSU (NON MODULAR), and it was just way too difficult to manage all those extra wires... SOLUTION? I just clipped off all the extra wires, insulated the ends of them, except for 1x Molex and 1x PCIe, and just ran the HDD power with a MOLEX to SATA cable. It was much much easier without all those wires in that case...

As far as your HS solution, I have not yet even tried to fit anything except for the stock HS, and it's got about another inch or so before you run into the PSU... However, I wonder if it would interfere with the airflow if it were to get too close.

Right now, with my ambient about 25c, the PC maxes out at around 60c using LinPack, and idles around 32c. I did not overclock her PC though, and I don't plan on it.

At the end of the day, I ended up buying her a 27" iMac for Christmas, so the PC came down into my office, where it sits there without even doing anything now.

Would I ever do it again? Heck no...

But that's okay, right? You could just disregard her and get a new one with all that currency you've acquired.
