Does anyone else have a Toshiba Qosmio? - Page 2

I'm on an iPod so I'll only be able to tell qosimo that he has been confirmed for fanboy and will be on ignore from this point on.

Tidings sent me the same laptop back. Not one with the same specs, but the same one. It said it had a faulty battery, and I put an identification sticker on the back of the battery.

You can't make those kinds of mistakes, not unless your laptops are crap and your company is run by goons.

What I meant as " not as fast as you think" was that it's an out of spec 460m. It's not as fast as the real 460m. Also why you can't use retail drivers.

It was crap, everything Roanoke makes has huge fluctuations in build quality. Telling me not to exepect half of the battery life I was quoted is dumb, also thinking I should have to pay exorbant shipping fees is. Some goon in toshiba decided not to use the united states postal service or ground shipping. But instead they made me pay 96 dollars to get the same exact laptop shipped back to me. No repairs, just charge me. Quality company right...

Of course I don't expect a mobile gpu to be able to play crysis on 1920x1080 32x msaa. I expect it to play fallout 3 on medium without going to 100% fans, burning a hole in my genes, and running out of battery from a full charge in 15 mins: because the optimized drivers haven't been ported yet because toshiba is either too lasy to give me drivers that support the gamebryos engine or they are run by baboons. 250.99 is the oldest driver that supports fermi and gamebryos, but at the time I could only go to 197.

I'm glad your happy, really.
But my toshiba a505d played fallout 3 faster because the driver supported gamebryos. And yes that's a toshiba laptop also, and I was very happy with it: so happy I wanted qosimo. Well qosimo was too much for me. And from only seeing pictures and only using 14 inch ish laptops I was surprised ( in a Goog way ) on the huge laptop.

I now run the new acer with sandy bridge and an ati 6850 (or something like that) and I couldn't be happier. Yeah it's tiny compared to my qosimo, but it works for the only three games I play. They all use the same engine and plus rep to whoever knows them.

And also dead space, and fear; but those ran alright on qosimo but 100% fans with low gpu usage.

It's actually an under clocked desktop GTX 450 with a larger mem bandwidth.

And Im just going to leave this here.

I believe what ddxxlll was saying is that the 460M GPU in his Qosmio was a downclocked 460M, not a standard spec 460M.

If you look at the GPUz screenshot from the notebookcheck review of the qosmio all the specs and clocks match up except for the memory clock.

I've done abit of googling around this as it seems strange to only down clock the memory and leave the shader and core speed the same, as this (downclocking memory vs shaders + core) would significantly reduce frame rates and reduced the required power and heat output minimal amounts when on load. Just doesn't add up. Any how all the other reviews that mention mem clocks, are saying 1250 MHz. The only possible difference between a standard 460m and the one included in the Qomio is the MXM slot which Toshiba likely modifies to a proprietary format (Asus does the same thing). Otherwise performance of the cards should be exactly the same.
