gaming build for a friend

Thread Starter
Hi all, my friend asked me to build him a gaming rig, since he doesn't have time to build it himself due school and work. The rig is mostly for browsing the web, music, and games like WoW, Sc2, Cod:BO,(sometimes crisis) and some other games. He wants it to be at least under $700-$750 no higher than that. He needs a cpu, case, gpu, psu(modular),hdd, optical drive, ram.I was thinking a quad core, hyper 212+ and a 6850, he likes to max his graphics and overclock. He also wants a blue and black theme going on.

He also prefers asus, and cooler master.

Thanks for the help !

-$56 shipped is not a good price for a 1333 CL7 kit. 1600 CL9 kits will slightly outperform 1333 CL7 kits and normally always tend to overclock further. The cheaper HyperX Blu 1600 CL9 for $50, $40 AR is a very decent overclocker.
-I wouldn't get an HD 5850 anymore unless it is cheaper than the HD 6850... which is not. There are plenty of 6850s for cheaper than that card.
-Counting the $5 shipping that DVD drive is a huge blatant ripoff. Just go with this cheaper 22X drive; besides, where have you seen 24X DVD media anyway? I can only always find 16X.
-For a cheaper $50 shipped I would take NZXT M59 over HAF 912, but that's just me.
-I have seen Samsung F3 1TB model go for that much before. You can get the F3 500GB for $45 on most sites to begin with, but lately I saw it on mWave for $35 - since they are doing site maintenance I can't get the link.
EDIT: Here it is - Samsung F3 500GB for only $35 on mWave if you are member (which is free and quick), $40 if you are not. That's much better.
-You are being ripped off largely for the Antec BP-550+. It's a great power supply (even for the price sometimes) but the reality is it has only 425W on the 12V rail. You can get the Earthwatts 650W or if you prefer sleeved the NEO ECO 620W for the same price.

RabbitGT's suggestion looks pretty good except that:
-G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 7-8-7. Apparently they overclock better than those particular Mushkins - a lot of people have had trouble getting below 7-8-7 on them. The Ripjaws'll do 6-8-6 guaranteed for ~same price.
-I'm not a fan of the Antec 600 especially for that price. Once again NZXT M59 would be better for cheaper or go with the Lancool PC-K58W at that price range.

The 5850 outperforms the 6850 consistently except in CF if I remember right which was my reasoning behind that.

And for some reason, the only CD/DVD drives I found cheaper than the one I posted had less than favorable reviews.

Newegg is really the only site I look at for making purchases so I don't really know about the prices of these items on other sites but you do make fair points.

Also, just noticed Newegg is having a 15% off RAM sale if you enter some special code. It says it's going on for 72 hours but I haven't got a clue when it started.
