And no, the HX1000 isn't worth it.
And that good power supply would be....

maybe this one?

CORSAIR Professional Series AX850 850W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

PS: The reason why I made a topic about it is because I really have no idea about power supplies, pretty lost on this matter.

Get this XFX unit. If you absolutely can't stand the look of it then you can opt for the Corsair HX850.

Isn't the AX850 supposed to be better than the HX850?

Heres my top 3 (just based on the looks)

1: AX850
2: HX850
3: XFX850

The AX850 has slightly better ripple suppression to the HX850, and the HX has slightly better voltage regulation. The AX850 just about scrapes gold efficiency and the HX850 is quite close to gold.

They're close in both performance and build quality so unless you want full modularity (the 24pin/8pin CPU power connecters are hardwired on the HX) the difference in price isn't worth it.

Okay I guess, still a bit confused about why you hate the HX1000 PSU and not the HX850?

I mean, they are the same HX series, so techinically they should be similar right? o.o

The HX1000 has its problems being 2 500w psus glued together, its not bad but there are better.
The HX850 is still one of the best 850w psu.
PS. I would get the xfx 850w.

I don't "hate" the HX1000... and no, all of the HX series aren't the same. The HX1000 is based on a very old and dated design with mediocre performance. The HX850 is vastly superior.

Actually they're completely different PSUs inside. Corsair's naming scheme is in no way related to what's inside each unit.

Okay, I've been thinking about it alot and I've came to the conclusion that I really hate the XFX BE PSU alot and I really couldn't stand having it on my case.

So, if the price is not an issue, I can go for the AX850 right? because althought the HX850 looks better than the XFX BE PSU, the AX850 still looks better for me
post #40 of 52
If price really is of no object, just go for the AX850.
