You can think it's "****ed up" all you want. Knowing what sex is / being taught about sex is a very different thing than watching pornography. I am not just speaking from my baseless opinions... I am speaking as a highly trained professional who works with people who have been sexually abused and unfortunately with people who have themselves sexually abused others.
You and some people who have commented after you seem to think that it should be ok to "show pronography to children... it's the parent's decision... and what right does our government have to interfere...".
Let's look at that closer? We know from case studies and nationwide (and international in some cases) surveys and studies that children's exposure to illicit sex through real life viewing or through pornographic material is correlated with earlier sexual experiences, higher rates of teen pregnancy, higher rates of teen STD's, and sexual deviance (particularly in schools)
We also know is it is linked in children to Acute-Stress disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, higher rates of depression, higher rates of suicide, and higher rates of other mental health diagnoses than not being exposed to such materials.
Thank God the government steps in when it is supposed to (to actually protect its citizen's from something) when people like you are walking around thinking it's ok to let a 5 year old watch porn.
Did you also know its a Child Protective issue when there is domestic violence in the home that the child has witnessed? Or do you think thats just an issue between parents, and the government has no right to interfere with what goes on in your home? Some things, whether you believe it or not, have been found to have serious mental health effects on children (witnessing domestic violence, viewing pornography, etc).
Not all children are affected the same, and some exhibit no symptoms. But being "okay" with things that have been found to cause innocent children harm is the thing that's ****ed up.
