Is running at 1.100mV safe with the reference cooler? I would like to get past 800 MHz core But my card doesn't allow me. I can only get 775 Core/1800 Memory from it at 1.087mV and with all of this it may still crash if I run long seasons of Crysis.
I also tried 732/1674 (stock memory) at 1.062mV and still crash in Crysis after long seasons of playing. I actually can get an aftermarket cooler but I think It doesn't worth it for such a weak card. even with 732 MHz It can't cut it. I mean It cannot go that much higher vs. the reference clocks and the reference cooler can keep up with that.
I only passed the first run of Heaven Benchmark for at 800/1800/1.087mV , And in the Second run it crashed.

Hi Headless, did you turn power management mode from adaptive to prefer maximum performance? I run 1.037 in Tri Sli Asus GTX 470 @775MHZ. I used to have to run more juice to get it stable before I changed that setting. On another note run MSI after burner and Kombuster w/anti-aliasing 16x and set 3D API to D3D11 and resolution 1920x1080 (GPU BURN-IN) while overclocking. This should set your gpu usage to 99%. When I was air cooling and over clocking I told my fan to go to 100% manually. I would not allow my my cards to constantly run over 65-70c for longevity IMHO. Mine is water cooled and overclocked and I get 43c to 47c temps max(depends on room temp). Your problem sounds like over heating, watch Kombuster like a hawk and you'll see what temp your card freezes at. Let me know if any of that info helps dude.[/SIZE]

My monitor got unplug and for some reason the nv cp disabled sli. I've been gaming for the last month or two and I didn't realize only one card was loading. Pretty decent game play in the most demanding games but the majority were extremely playable and smooth. I'm still running stock. Metro 2033 was the one that seemed a little laggy, but I got through the whole game not realizing I was loading one stock clocked 470. Now that all of them are running the game play is much smoother.

This has me further thinking of downsizing since the games I play don't really need this much hp. I'm thinking of dropping one or two cards, especially since I'm running one monitor only.

I got some changes coming up and I'll decide then if I really should down size since I really don't need triple sli for my needs tbh. One or two oc'd cards should be plenty enough.

From my last couple weeks experience (but YMMV) I wouldn't drop more than 1 card. SLI makes a huge difference in the games I play (98% BF3 lately) so if you were to go to just a single card you may regret it. Then again, your cpu makes up for a lot more than mine does.. smile.gif

I don't like these modern shooters and most of the games I run are a few years old. I really didn't get caught up that whole BF3 hoopla. I enjoyed being a benchmark junkie with three 580s and running surround. But I'm getting bored with benching and I just got a console that I'm probably going to use as my primary game system. So, even at two cards its a bit overkill tbh. I'll wait to see what the pc gods decide for my faith biggrin.gif

THANKS!!

its just on stock reference COOLERS..i can go further till 840+(tested) but such HORSE power won't be needed yet..since on stock i CAN PLAY all the games i want..TBH i'd really love to keep em.. thumb.gif

If I were to go all out budget, I would probably go with a amd quad PII. I already tried a 2500k and I have a slight edge with this 2600k in oc'ing and some applications. I might go with a matx setup keeping my SB and the two strongest 470s. Don't know yet about these changes, but I was totally blown away I had been gaming on one card these last couple of months. Comes to show how beasty 470s still are thumb.gif

not too mention your on 2600k too..i went gaming on 4.5Ghz with just one card and it was really FINE with me..until Batman came along.... tongue.gif

I find HT useless(for me) since everything that my i7 920 used to DO can be done with the 2500K in a MORE economical way.. thumb.gif

Hello smile.gif .
I use the adaptive setting & I didn't change it since I purchased this card.
As for overheating when I play Crysis with 732/1674 My temps are between 78-82 C & 82% fan.
I think those temps are reasonable for that card. Since with the default fan profile and stock clocks it runs between 85-93 C.
As for Furmark If I run it with the overclock the card will quickly jump to 100 C . But I don't have this problem while gaming as my temps are always between 78-84 C even when playing demanding games like Crysis 1 & 2.
I just think the problem is that this card is a poor overclocker and cannot go that much over its stock settings. I am thinking to flash the card to unlock the voltage to 1.100mV but if this voltage is not safe I wouldn't bother.
