Not a bad combo, but with everyone on here pointing out good deals, no need to get that combo that places a key generic component (ram) for a rather small savings overall.

Example:
Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112239 $110 shipped
Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131402 $84 shipped after $15 mir
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103808 $149 shipped
Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104203 $40 shipped after $10 mir
PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817207007 $74 shipped after $30 mir
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125353 $173 shipped after $20 mir
Optical drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136181 $105 shipped
CPU cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233029 $25 shipped after $20 mir

Total = $760 after mirs
Just add your choice of HDD/SSD
It's so little!

Those are some good deals Badwrench I think something between mine and yours (i.e. my build with your mobo/RAM/GPU/cooler)
I think a blu-ray burner is unnecessary in most cases though. I don't think I could ever use up 50GB on a blu-ray (what with the AVCHD codec allowing HD movies in normal DVD space for me) You can get a BD-ROM/DVD-RW combo drive for $60.

Whoops, double posted it. Disregard this
Ahh okay, Now I can post you a good build. Give me a few mins.

Here what I got for a short free time I got.

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119196 (Or a HAF 932) This looks good too.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112239

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136544 (You can either get this or any other HDD he wants.)

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231311 (Seems like a Overkill. 4GB if he wants)

Drives: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106346 (Seems like a good brand.)

GPU+PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.578688 (He can get a 560 and SLI or ATI and Crossfire)

CPU+Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.581357 (He can get AMD or Intel Sandy bridge)

Grand Total:* $1,239.92

For cooler he can go WC or Air.

You can change some stuff around to fit his needs, or budget.

I prefer waiting till the Bulldozer and Ivy come out. Unless he wants one now lol. Post a better build when I get home, if you don't like it.

No love for the NZXT Tempest EVO?
And seriously, don't be pairing generic RAM with AMD or Intel's top end processors. It's just not right.
It's an interesting combo deal for PSU + GPU by the way but it seems ridiculously expensive.

Ok so I made him come back over today and showed him some ideas and here is what we came up with.

Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112263
PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151087
CPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072
Cooler - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103065
MOBO - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128462
Memory (x2 8G) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211409
GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127564
SSD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820167035
HD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152245
Media - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151222

(grand total = $1559.82)

Well its certainly not a budget build. But the end result seems promising. He doesn't want to wait for Bulldozer and after looking @ benchmarks and reviews has become dead set on sandy bridge. All in all I am really proud of the setup but want to here from the jury.

I am hoping I did this right this time lol.... Going for sleek clean powerful and as quiet as possible. Can't thank you all enough again for pushing me in other directions with ideas.

Only corrections I see:

750w PSU is completely overkill. That PSU would handle SLI 570's with ease.
Intel X25 SSD = not that great anymore, and 120GB is too much for a SSD.
Samsung F4 drives are pretty slow. Not bad for storage, but meh.

Fixes:
550w PSU for single card, keep that 750w if your buddy plans to SLI later.
Get a Vertex 2 or Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe SSD instead, and get the 60GB. That's more than enough for OS and apps (all a SSD is good for anyway).
Get 2x1TB Samsung F3 drives instead for RAID0 for fast storage (game installations, etc.)
Keep that 2TB F4 for a backup drive for the RAID0.

Do not go with that A-Data RAM kit.
I have seen already too many AMD users complaining of problems with that kit.

For the same price this Team 1600 CL9 kit would be much better - or for higher price (but lower after rebate) the HyperX Blu 1600 CL9.
