Help with ASRock x58 Extreme & i7 920 D0

Thread Starter
I hate to make a new post just about this, but I've read everything I can and just can't OC (as in I'm not stable at 3.4GHz w/ 1.3v vcore!).

My rig:
ASRock x58 Extreme BIOS v. 2.8
i7 920 D0 stepping 5
PNY GeForce 9800GT
OCZ Z 850W
6GB GSKill DDR3 1600
1xPCIe Wierless Card
xClio A380 Color

BIOS:
I've tried all kinds of settings, here is what I gave up with.
HT, Speedsteping, etc, enabled
Bclk 160
CPU vcore 1.275
VTT 1.27
everything else set to AUTO (I also tried manually setting it to stock)

Please help me get to 3.8GHz and, if possible, 4GHz!

So what your saying is that your system CPU is lying on your sig? for shame for shame, but more on topic, I had the same board, wouldn't go past 3.8 for anything, the power regulators are too small and kept crashing my board with anything over 1.3v - I ended up just sending mine back to newegg and getting my rampage III - good luck!

Na na, I had to send in my MB for an RMA and haven't updated my sig yet (the other one had a bad mem slot).

I had to raise my IOH voltages just to get stable at stock speeds. Here are my voltage settings for 3.8ghz prime95/IBT stable:

Also, make sure your ram timings are set properly, as that can lead to instability. Try to hit 3.36ghz (160bclk) w/ the settings i have below. Your mugen2 is about the same as my DK, but you could have a better binned cpu or a better made motherboard.

BLCK: 181
PCI-E: 100

CPU Ratio: 21
QPI: 6.5
Uncore: 2896
DRAM: 1448mhz

Without Vdroop
CPU Voltage: 1.2625v
DRAM Voltage: 1.65v
IOH Voltage: 1.153v
VTT Voltage: 1.27v
ICH Voltage: 1.16v
IOH/CSI Voltage: 1.16v
IOH/ICH PCI-E Voltage: 1.56
CPU PLL: 1.82v
