Virgin Mobile Question

I am buying my first android phone the beginning of February the Lg Optimus V. It's an android smart phone and virgin mobile has $25 plan that is unlimited tata and texting with 300 minutes. I want to use GV or skype or an app that I can call and use my data because I get really good speeds in my area. What do I need to do to use my data for phone calls. I dont mind if I have to buy skype credit or w/e. Just want what works best in sound quality and doesnt have a lot of lag. I'm new to cell phones sort of so advice on what to download is highly appreciated.

As long as it has a Skype app, then you can purchase per month to call land lines - I think its roughly $2 per month, or free skype to skype, it will automatically use data.

What about a GV app which is free? I just want the best. Skype is so cheap I dont mind paying. I just want the best sound quality. Ive heard of issues with lag. Ive been asking at howard forums but the mods there are pricks and lock every thread I ask a question too and tell me to search and I am reading through 65 page threads and find hardly any info.
