[CVG]Heavy Rain film being 'fast-tracked' - Page 3

I never understood making a movie for this game...
The only good thing about this game was all the choices and impact and stuff you had on the game... The story itself was great by video game standards but is nothing that out of the norm that it deserves a movie.

The game was sort of meant to BE a movie...

It could be good, but I think this is a rather stupid idea. Just make a movie not associated with heavy rain with the story you like...

I'm hoping that this one of the greatest movies of all time. Maybe then they'll consider not canceling the dlc's that we were suppose to get last year.

PS move does enhance the Heavy Rain experience. Jealous of new players getting their first play through with it. Still, it wasn't worth the lost of the dlc's in my opinion.

That's just it.
There is no reason for it to be a massive could. That's what people and directors seem to think. Could - they have to put alot of effort into making the story into something that COULD be a good movie. When they don't.

Case in point - Resident Evil.
Resident Evil could've been a great movie. Directors thought they needed to change things up to make that happen.
Look what that's gotten us? 4 craptastic movies that put a shame on Resident Evil as a whole. Absolutely horrible films, and they get worse with each one. The only enjoyment you can get out of them is if you're just looking for a way to burn time by watching maybe two or three "hot" chicks kill zombies for no reason at all (ie no plot). Even Kill Bill had a much better reason, and it could even take a joke while doing it, for all the excess and over the top stunts/killing it had (that and it was actually good too)

All they needed to do in reality was just make a movie about the game. No need to change things up, no need to come up with something original. Just copy-cat the entire damn thing, and spice things up here and there if you want originality. There's no need to deviate from the script that's already in place - that's where the problems with every video game movie come from.

Heavy Rain - could be a fantastic movie if they keep everything that's already there. They could, perhaps, change up some of the tests that Marson has to go through. Come up with some Saw-like gruesome tests for example rather than crawling around for 10 minutes in a glass filled tunnel. Maybe another plot twist or so to keep things fresh.
Maybe, because Heavy Rain has several different endings, choose the one people won't expect the most or tweak it a bit. Perhaps instead of the happy ending - making where Marson fails but not all hope is lost for the kid.
That's a tiny could because it most likely would be a fantastic movie in that case. Well, at least I enjoyed the game's story for what it was.
A big could would be changing the characters, the plot, the tests, everything that's already in play while only keeping tiny threads of actual connection to the game besides the name. That's a big could.

Hitman was one of the better movies adapated from a video game. Should be looking at Uwe Boll's crap.

Heavy Rain was an interactive movie. Making a big screen film out of it could only be a step backwards, no matter how well done.

That's the problem. And I've done screenwriting.

If it were up to me the best thing I could do is ask myself what are the key concepts you get from the game? What is the overall feel? What are the character arcs? Main theme and sub themes? Main moral and sub morals? What are the two main turning points of the story? You can only choose one path so you have to try and pick the best one that encompasses the feel of the game. In the end you will miss something for sure. Especially with a game like this because choice is very important to how it plays out and what someone gets from the game.
