[Gizmag] Breakthrough promises $1.50/ gallon synthetic gasoline, no carbon emissions

UK-based Cella Energy has developed a synthetic fuel that could lead to US$1.50 per gallon gasoline. Apart from promising a future transportation fuel with a stable price regardless of oil prices, the fuel is hydrogen based and produces no carbon emissions when burned. The technology is based on complex hydrides, and has been developed over a four year top secret program at the prestigious Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Oxford. Early indications are that the fuel can be used in existing internal combustion engined vehicles without engine modification.

Not bad. If I drive 12k mile per year at 25 mpg, I'll save $600 on gas. Time to upgrade

Can you fix the link please? Only one "http://" needed...

Sounds promising, lets see if it is commercially viable.

To bad an oil company will buy it out and get rid of their research like they do with all alternative fuels, or better yet they will go though with it and make it the same price as gas.

That would be awesome to have cheaper gas again. I still have a hard time believing that the big oil companies and government people that have ties to oil will let this happen very easily. Too many people would loose too much money if their oil was not needed.

I still think if they can find a way to bring gas back down to, at least, under $2/gal, it would straighten out this recession quicker than anything else they are trying to do. Seems they can't figure out that when gas prices sky-rocketed, the ecomomy went to hell because everything else went up in price because of it.
