Single Slot Physx's card

Thread Starter
Currently I'm running a single GTX 470 and a GTX 260 core 216 in my rig. I will getting two more 470's within the next two weeks or so. I've been looking at my system and thinking of picking up a 430 and using it to run physx. Mainly my won't accommodate a dual slot card in the last PCIe slot and with the 430's at around 60 bucks I don't think it's that bad of a deal, and I can probably get rid of my 260 for a decent price.

Any thoughts of suggestions?

470's are generally enough to run PhysX in most games, 430's aren't the best...I'd at least look at a 9800GT/GTS 450, both come in single slot versions. So you'll be going Tri-SLI?

What I was thinking was TRI-SLI on the GTX 470s; I have one on water in the system now and a second block. I have one GTX 470 that is currently toast and will be replacing next week, and another on the way. I need to order another block for the third card. I fairly confident that my loop, MB, and PSU can handle it all. Since I have a fourth PCIe slot and the cards are fairly cheap I figured what the heck. I have to get rid of my 260 so why not throw a single slot 400 series in there to handle the physics. I actually think most of this is over kill at the moment. Then again though I tend to get ridicules with my hobbies sometimes.

Edit*Sorry for the treads crappy spelling, I think I need to QA/QC that a little better next time.

If you go SLI with any high end card like a 470 or above, I see no reason to have a dedicated PhysX card then as the GPU can easily handle those processes on the side while maxing out the game.

the only reason you would look at a dedicated physx card when you have something like a 470 or above in SLI...

would be because you have a small CPU...

because cloth physx are still done by the cpu when you don't have a dedicated physx card

I have a 8800GS that runs Physx for me, works great too. Single slot, low power and low heat.
The GT240 is single slot, and enough for PhysX, but you can also get single slot GTS250s, 450s and the odd 460 if you want more poke from your PhysX card.
